Default Emails being deleted

Please Login to Remove!

Dear All,
I am able to receive the emails on my BB9700.
The Email address is the one provided by my Service Provider.

I am seeing my emails vanish (being deleted) after sometime. Is that due to the fact that when I use my outlook on my laptops to downlod the emails, the emails on the server are deleted and I am not seeing them anymore on my BB9700?

That leads me to the following question:
Are the emails when received on the BB, get stored on the BB device or on the provider server?

I am sending myself emails and doing all sort of trials, deleting from device only, deleting from Device and server, downloading emails through the outllok, reconfiguring my outlook to keep emails on server for sometime after being dloaded.
But that will take sometime, if someone has a tip, please provide.

Note:
My BB is configured to keep messages for 6 Months;
Messages>Menu>Options>General Options>Keep Messages (6 Months)

Appreciate any feedback,

Al

you want the message options > email reconciliation > delete on: mailbox & handheld/prompt/handheld.

This will determine when deleting from the berry if you want to keep them on the server or just delete them from the handheld.

This is similar to the keep emails on server option in outlook.

Thanks Wise,

You are assuming that we delete the emails. But the fact is that I receive the email on my BB, Read it, and keep it there (not deleting it) after sometime - and I am suspecting if I log to my email from Outlook; the emails vanish from my BB!!!!

Or better yet. In messages go to optons/general and scroll all the way to the bottom. The default is to delete messages from your BB after 30 days. Change it.

I had the same issue and resolved it

BB deletes the received items yet keeps the sent items on the device.

My solution was to login to my BB email account manager via my mobile networks address eg BlackBerry Internet Service

and under each email account I took a tick off Synchronize deleted items.

Hope this helps

Thanks to all those who contributed to this really helpful thread. I was experiencing the same issue with received emails being automatically deleted. I have made the adjustments to the "synchronisation" options. Hopefully this will work.

This leads me to another question about deleting emails. When invoking the "delete" option through the menu on the BB, 3 options are presented - "mailbox and handheld"; "handheld"; "cancel". The reference to the mailbox, does this relate to the email account (through my ISP) that I have configured the BB to be linked to?

Many thanks in advance.....

In a word, yes. For example, I have my BB set up with my Gmail account, and if I choose the mailbox&handheld option, the message is removed from the inbox and sent to my Gmail trash folder.
