bought a lcd from a repair shop, screen had 002/111 printed on rear as was original cracked lcd, after installation the pixels are not uniform in brightness and resemble a laptop's lcd screen when the screen resolution is not set to the native resolution. has anyone experienced this after an lcd change? is there 002/111 lcd that have different pixel per inch/resolutions specs?

Sounds like you got a cheap knockoff replacement screen. Was it very cheap? I always buy my replacement parts from CNN.CN, an outfit out of Hong Kong. They've always provided the highest quality parts (mostly O.E.M. from RIM or factory refurbished), prices are decent, and shipping is 7-10 days on average. I don't see the actual LCD available on their site, but Amazon has them for about $73. If you paid much below that then you know you got a knockoff.

The other possibility is that it's the screen for a different model. After poking around I see the model number for the lcd as: LCD-12360-001/004

tks for response, dude, in the cayman islands we have no consumer protection, this screen was US$125. a pattern here is buy cheap junk, sell ridiculously high.
its not a 9600 by the way, i edited the heading to say 9700 but it hasnt happened. the lcd markings seem to be correct (002/111 etc).

It's either a fake or defective.

the retailer is trying to convince me that the screen is ok (SMH)
