Default BES Outlook email deletion problem

9700, OS 5.

When a message reaches the limits on BlackBerry (say 60 days), it's automatically deleted. However, it's also deleted in Outlook. Is this possible to keep it in Outlook?

When a message is deleted in Outlook, it remains on BlackBerry. Here things are bit different from the normal operation. The email is first moved to a folder (not Deleted Items). Symantec Enterprise Vault then will vault the emails. Then shift-delete is used in Outlook to delete both the shortcuts and the message in the vault. Support already deleted the service book and resent it. No effect. Any way to make deletion to happen on the device?

This is a not a Playbook issue, its a Bold 9700 issue. You need to set your email options on your device so that when you delete an email on your device it doesn't remove it from your mailbox.

If you are using BES which it sounds like you are, BES queue's the mailboxes on Exchange, all emails coming in that aren't ruled to move to a mailbox are sent to your blackberry first before you see it appear in your inbox.

If the Symantec email archive system is moving the emails and Exchange isn't moving it then its possible that BES is getting the email before Symantec is, unforturnately you can't switch the roles around its just not possible.

That should not be happening at all when the device reaches the # of days you have set to keep mail on your BB - and changing that option on your BB (to not delete in both places) has no effect on it.

If you have your BB set to only keep email for a set number of days (say 15 days) on day 16 the email should only be removed from the BB.

If you 'shift-delete' emails in Outlook they will be deleted from the BB since the BB can no longer 'see' them. There is no way around that.

Also, if the emails are first 'moved to a folder' and that folder is not set for redirection on the BB, then you won't see them on the BB after they move, either.

That's what I have right now (60 days of email in Outlook). Does it mean something wrong with BES?
