Default Tmo guy at the mall - so funny

Please Login to Remove!

Walking through the mall, the guy at the tmo kiosk asked me what service I have and if I'm happy with my plan. I told him my plan, he says oh, that's pretty good, but then asked if I knew that in December, Verizon was abandoning CDMA and moving to gsm. I said, uh, no they aren't. He said gsm was so much better, faster, more dependable. I asked him if he knew the data rates for cdma evdo vs. gsm. He said no. I asked him if he knew what HSDPA was. He said no. I asked him if he knew what FTE was, he said no. Then suddenly, the other tmo guy standing right behind him came up to him and said "dude, it's your first day here, you can't go making stuff up like that."

Just a funny story, thought I'd share...

Yea, cuz it would only take a couple of months to replace the ENTIRE Verizon network cabling and towers from CDMA to GSM.

Better yet, they can just flip the switch from CDMA to GSM. Every carrier has one of those switches, right?

Really? I think if a 6th grade education is good enough for Jethro Bodine, it should be good enough for TMobile!

For all of you youngsters, Jethro was a character on a TV show called The Beverly Hillbillies.

he probably meant to say that verizon picked LTE for their 4g network which is kind of the gsm 4g tech. instead of the "regular" cdma 4g tech. they are supposedly rolling it out starting in 2009ish? so he is kinda sort-of-ish right

I think he was just nervous, trying to sell something. He had no idea what LTE was. He probably knew as much about cell technologies as Kojak knew about hair products.
