Please Login to Remove!

hi everyone. i'm just a few hours new to the forum.
i got the 8900 as a gift and it happens to be T-mobile branded. we dont have T-mobile in my country so it had to be unlocked. but the thing is, after unlocking it, i can do every other thing with my BB using any other network except BIS does this mean it's not properly unlocked? what do i do? pls someone tell me what to do cos i'm eager to connect with my friends and make new friends on the BBM.

thanks for your suggestion, i've followed the link to check & confirm whether or not it's unlocked and it shows that it is unlocked (...network is disabled)
it has to be cos i can use other sim cards on d the ONLY problem is the use of BIS. i'm really really confused.

Do you have a BB data plan on your account? You need that for any and all RIM related services such as email, BBM, etc.

You need to call your cell carrier and have them add the BB data to your account. Keep in mind, there will be an add on charge for the data plan.

yes i contacted my network provider and got the BB data plan but BIS wouldn't work on my 8900 phone but when i switch my sim to another BB phone (which is not branded to any network) the BIS works on it.

Talk to your carrier to make sure that the IMEI of your BB is allowed on their network. Sometimes carriers only allow IMEIs of their own branded phones to use data service and your new BBs IMEI may need to be added manually for BIS/data to work.

What error message are you getting when you try to set up email in BIS? This will help determine the solution and end speculation.

The typical problem is the previous owner did not cancel their BIS account when they stopped using the BB. Hence, the IMEI and PIN are still registered. If this is the case, you need the previous owner to call his or her cell carrier and cancel their BIS. This will release the PIN and allow you to use it for RIM related services such as email.

Reading down through the thread, I came to the same conclusion Dubdub mentions in post #12 . . . that it sounds like maybe the blackberry is still registered on a previous owners BIS on t-mobile. If the PIN was banned, it wouldn't even work on t-mobile, it seems to me.
