Question Free Solitaire - Privacy Issues?

Please Login to Remove!

Once again, it 'appears' that another vendor has released an app to obtain user info in the background to sell and market your info. I was looking for a simple game to add to the phone and since this got decent reviews, I thought I'd try it but I always check the logs afterwards to see if anything is being sent out in exchange for the free app. Seems like they're utilizing Data Flurry.

Here's the app link:

Here's the event log:

Daphne- Do you remember Card Star? Same issue w/o the grab all emails command.

Anyway, I deleted it but thought it was interesting to point out.

Yes, I remember that. I have one app that has a Flurry module, Ubersocial, Twitter app, and I turned off all permissions for that module. The app still works but each time I open it, I get a message that says
Quote:
The application UberSocial has attempted to open an external connection that is not allowed by the application"s permissions.
I click OK and the app opens and works normally.

So if you reinstall Solitaire, you could try that. Just deny all permissions to the Flurry module, if there is one, and see if the app still works. I smile to myself everytime I see that message.

There isn't a flurry module. There are 28 BBSLFree modules plus one main one but I have my 'Default Permissions' set to deny User Data anyway so I wonder what it is sending if anything (IMEI info)? I went to Application Management and shutdown the other two and it came up with an error requiring an internet connection which is ridiculous to play a local solitaire game so it goes to show you they're grabbing info. The app won't run without it on. OK, delete time!
