I've noticed occasionally a small "R" or "D" next to the check mark that indicates a message was successfully sent. What do these letters indicate?

Could it be that Bill has Confirmation turned on with his email? PIN's are a giving but can't you get this with email too?

The letters just show up randomly. I can't see any rhyme or reason for them. I don't have the confirmation turned on.

i get this only on my PIN messages or my blackberry email account messages

I get it on my PIN, BB Messenger, SMS, and my BB email. I have confirm delivery turned on for all accounts.

Basically this happens for some messages, unless you want to change it, then it doesn't really matter which ones you have them set for.

The letters are not random, as was said above, when the message is successfully sent from your phone, it says "D", when the person you sent the message to opens the message, it says "R". Neat feature, it is automatically done when you send PINs, you can look those up if you don't know what they are, but you may have set some settings on that would turn this on for other types of messages as well.

PIN messaging communicates directly from BlackBerry to BlackBerry. Go to your Messages Folder, click menu and see "Compose PIN". You must have the PIN for the other BlackBerry to use this method. Your PIN can be discovered at Options > Status or by typing "mypin" in any email or text box.

I have delivery/read confirmations turned off now on my emails, but i just didn't remembere it seeing it on emails in when I did have it on. On AT&T I have never got delivery/read confirmations on SMS. I did on TMo.
