Default BES activation, switching devices or OS

Please Login to Remove!

On BES...if I load the newest OS on my 8830 or change devices, will my BES admin have to do anything before I can activate and get up and running? I already know the activation password.

Would it make any difference if I activated via wireless or connected to desktop manager while on corp. network? I just don't want to hassle my BES admin with stuff while I play around with a new OS or device....

The activation password needs to be reset for every activation. So yes, if you change your OS or switch devices, your BES admin will need to be contacted.

Eh, stink. He's a friend, but he's also doing triple duty as the corporate notebook guy and sometimes backing up the help desk....hate to bother him so I can goof around with new devices and os.

Does the BES support the new OS? Your admin might know.

EA OTA or BBDM does not make much difference except for speed. Not sure if activation password can be used more than once. Contact your admin on this.

The activation password cannot be used more than once to my knowledge. They by default time out after 72 hours, and I believe after a successful activation the password disappears completely.

If you have desktop manager installed then you can do it.

Without involving my admin to reset the password every time? That seems contrary to what others are saying...

If your user account is in the BES already you do not need besadmin. If not then yes. You do not need to reset activation password as you will use DM to activate.

And remember this is an old way of doing business and I haven't used it ever since wireless activation has seen the light. Started getting headaches even by just thinking of this. Your best bet is still to bug your baddy besadmin and have him assign you new activation password for your HH.
Cheers.
