Default Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.2108 / 7.1.0.746 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.2108 (Multilanguages)

Package Version: 7.1.0.2108
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.746
Software Platform: 5.1.0.546
File name: 9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel2108_PL5.1.0.546_A7.1.0.746_UTS. exe
File size:260.22MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...0354E37BBF44A2

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

This update was very smooth and without any problems. I do notice a great improvement in battery life compared to the previous .714. My battery level stayed at full bar the rest of the day after upgrading. With the second day of use, so far so good as far as battery consumption.

The new OS is very quick and responsive as well.

I have found that after upgrading, if I do several battery pulls over the next two days, it increases the effectiveness of the newer OS.

Anyone out there found any other improvements in this new OS??

Please can anyone explain why battery pulls are required to increase effectiveness? Can the same thing be achieved by soft reboots (alt+caps + del).

I haven't seen any reports of the OS not being recognized. Downloading error?

I didn't get an error. Installed and uninstalled it twice with a restart in between and still nothing. It's installed under win8 but, once I launch blackberry manager it doesn't pop up under available updates. And when I connect my bb and launch apploader, it just shows my applications installed. That's it. Lol. I am running a .714/3.342 hybrid but that shouldn't have an impact, could it?

Whenever I have an issue trying to install an update that the DM doesn't see, I close down all RIM related services (Task Manager), and then reboot my computer while it is connected to my BB.

9/10 usually works.

Hey buddy,

Thanx for that. Not sure if it was what you suggested or a simple unit reboot, but all is good now. Maybe having my unit on for 5 days without a restart while using the engineering screens to keep it going smoothly, is not that healthy after all lol.

Thanx again. And regarding those new LEDs. When I get multiple notifications (purple = facebook) (missed call = blue) (text = green) only red continually blinks. How silly is that? They should blink one after another...doesn't that make more sense? Lol

I found a bug that is extremely annoying to me and im downgrading b/c of it. In the Calendar it automatically goes to the top of the hour you set as your starting hour instead of the first appointment you set that day. This was working on the old version so I guess I'm downgrading.

Also another weird bug is when in the Options sometimes the search feature works and sometimes it does not.

I don't understand why this Calendar feature keeps getting screwed up between releases.

7.1.0.912 from T-Mobile has been out for more than a month. Just curious as to why it not "stuck" here compared to this 7.1.0.746 which came out in October?

This is good advice.
It may also help to ensure the vendor xml files are deleted from the, user (name) app data files in Win 7 under "Roaming" Research in Motion file

Hi...I have just downloaded and installed this new update but I cannot open my email in my BB...
It won't let me configure or setup my email because it says "Your device had a problem connecting to the server. Retry or Cancel.
I have tried many times through wifi and with my carrier to setup my email services but it is not going fine.
Kindly help me, please!!!

Have you confirmed with your carrier that you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
Did this work before the update?

I do not know about my carrier but all my other applications and programs are working perfectly fine either through wifi or through my BIS....Also, my data plan was working perfectly before the upgrade but after the upgrade my email stopped working.
Yes, it worked perfectly before the upgrade.

I have rebooted many times and each time it would very briefly say "Connecting to email settings..."...And then suddenly show the "Retry or Cancel" option. That ends it.
Please what could be wrong?
The browser opens directly to my saved home page without asking me for a password.

Pardon?

Did you type in the address in the top of the browser? From your device? The address will NOT direct you to your homepage.
