Web browsing is not included unless you have access to a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). IM is not included although there are other services available for that.

Copy and pasted from RIMROAD, a forum member had problems accessing BlackBerryForums. Posting here too for completeness.

Ok, so you know the assumptions and facts...

-Most recently used the 7750
-Using BES 3.7, upgrading to 4.0 today
-Due to corporate contract I can't divulge the price I got mine for...We got 26 in one shot so we got a good deal.

New/Different Features
-Smaller screen same width. You have to scroll to get to the fourth row of icons.
-No IM Client included.
-No Cradle included.

New/Cool Stuff
-New escape button is so much nicer. It actually clicks. Subtle yet _very_ nice.
-Uses 1x only, EVDO coming in an upgrade soon but remember EVDO is only available in a limited number of markets. (this is or will be discussed better in other threads.) What's not apparent is how to use the internal modem on your computer. I'm sure that's be another thread soon to.
-New Pictures application let's you go to a website and save a picture. Easy way for me to get pix of my daughter.
-Browsing seems very fast. A little update to the browser.
-The Messages just seems to be for email, SMS, and voice mail messages now. It doesn't automatically put called info in it. Probably a setting on the 7750 I didn't change but that's the new default.
-Bluetooth is on it but I haven't tried it. Getting my headset today so I'll try it then.
-Backlight now has two levels of brightness.
-There's "an internal high performance antenna" however I can verify if it's any better. My 7750 was already getting great signal.
-New help icon that is really nice and easy to use.

Things I think would be nice to have included...
-Tif viewer so you can get your faxes to it. Probably a 3rd party app out there for this.
-IM CLIENT!!! But I think that's a limitation of the device so can't fault them for this. Well you might be able to but I'm not going to.
-Speakerphone! I heard this one would have it. That's a bummer
-Voice recognition software. Easy the dialing situation while multi tasking.

OVERALL FIRST IMPRESSION: MUST BUY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, GO GET ONE NOW! excuse my enthusiasm

I'll edit and update this post as I find out more information.

Has anyone tried to use the 7250 as a modem for laptop?

Try following my:
HOWTO: BlackBerry As Modem For Laptop
Just skip step 8 and see if it works.

I thought this was good because at least we have life. I then configured everything else as indicated in your instruction sheet. WHen I tried to connect, I received an error 678 - remote computer not responding. WHile it was trying to dial, I did not see any data arrows going back and forth on the BB screen.

Any ideas?

If you are looking for the browser... My 7290 (Cingular) did not have a browser when I first turned it on. In Options> Host Routing Tables> click the wheel and select "Register Now." It then would send a service book and the browser would appear. Just my two cents.

Great review guys! Can't wait for this to be released with Telus Mobility so I can get one.

But the question I had was this new model looks thicker then the 7750 but shorter in size. Does the unit feel like it is going to fall out of ur hands when you are typing?
And how much thicker is the unit form the 7750?

Thanks in advance

It's exactly the same size as the BlackBerry 7290.

Which is nearly exactly the same size as the 7230/7280 units -- about one millimeter thicker. The 7230/7280/7290 is more comfortable to hold in the hands than the 7750 and 7780, because it's easier to grip, at least by me.

We also have a sponsor www.eGrips.com that adds high-grip pads you can add to your BlackBerry, if you feel the BlackBerry is too slippery.

Anybody know if Sprint will be picking up this phone as well since it is CDMA?

Thanks

Crutch,

I would think that you would probably be able to *use* the 7250 on Sprint's Network since they already sell the 7750. If you are provisioned for a BB on Sprint already, then popping over to a 7250 should not change much.

The problem, however, is getting Sprint to activate the device on their network because of the ESN. They will be able to tell by the ESN that a) you didn't buy it from Sprint, and b) it is not a 7750. Now if you wanted to take a chance, you could always play dumb and insist that the phone was a 7750 and you have no idea why the ESNs don't match up. (Sounds far fetched, but when I first received my 7750, the ESN indicated that the phone was a Nokia of some type so they had to manually override) If you talk to the right person, they may associate the ESN with your account and the phone might work.

I have done this in the past with a co-worker who purchased a Kyocera 6035 from Verizon, therefore it was "unlocked." He wanted to activate it on Sprint, but they could tell that it was a Verizon marketed 6035, mainly because Sprint sold theirs locked. Anyway, after talking to the right people they manually put the ESN on his Sprint acct and it worked fine.

I may be oversimplifying the issue, but on the phone and Data side of things, I don't know what the difference would be between the 7750 and 7250. All the upgraded features of the 7250 are basically memory, or superficial, or bluetooth, which should have nothing to do with how your phone operates on a cellular network. CDMA is CDMA, I would think.

Thanks for the reply and I agree in theory it should work and if the device were only for me I would give it a shot; however, we are looking at push e-mail solutions for our firm and I will be setting this up for about 25 phones. And from what I am reading here on the forum, the 7750 is an inferior device compared to the 7250.

We have already selected our carrier which will be Sprint but they don't offer the 7250 from what I can tell. At least yet.

Thanks again for replying.

Verizon hasn't even started advertising the 7250 yet.

Try contacting somebody higher up at Sprint and see if they can let you in early on a quantity of 7250's.

Has anyone seen this link posted on PDAstreet.com forums? Is this legit? It has the Blackberry 7250 for purchase here with a discount on the device and service.

This is a genuine verizonwireless.com URL, so it is almost certainly legit. Probably posted a little too early, since I can no longer access the link at the moment.

I like to get one of these with Verizon when they come avalible. I have a 7100 with t-mobile now but coverage in Rhode Island is not best with them. I would be using the BWC on VZW since I dont have access to BES. If I get one of these does VZW at least allow access to WAP sites???

Thanks, Mike

Default Verizon wireless 7250

Hello I am new to this forum. First just wanted to say thank you to everyone's comments on this forum. They are extremely helpful.
I brought a 7750 last Friday and was very disappointed in the fact that it had no web browser and no ability to use Im programs like verichat unless you have bes which I don't. I found out the 7250 was being released soon so I ordered one and just got it today. It has web browser built in and I downloaded verichat and it was up and running in no time. thats all for now as I am charging the battery now.

Everyone else who received their's said the same thing which is that it didn't come with a browser. Hugman85, are you using BES? Maybe that's how you have it. Can someone please confirm what Hugman85 said, because the lack of a browser is the only thing keeping me from ordering it right now.
(I know you can get a reqwireless browser and service through mobileweb4u but don't understand why someone should have to spend anymore money if you're already paying $45 a month for Verizon's unlimited Blackberry add-on)

Default verizon 7250

I am new to blackberry's coming from a treo 600/650 from sprint. I didn't do anything special to get web browser. I just opened the box dialed the number to activate service and when it said it activated successfully I notice it had an icon for internet browser. Sorry again but I am new to this and the only knowledge I have of bes is from this forum. I set up the desktop to use blackberry webclient. I set up the desktop and went to the website to setup my email address @vzw.blackberry.net and that was it. Can someone tell me how to check if I have a bes because I don't subscribe to anything like myblueberry ect. I was using my treo mainly for eamil/calendar/appointments/ and verichat was huge. Treo kept resetting alot so I decided to try a blackberry since people have posted positive experiences using verichat.
