the software on the 8310 is 4.2.2.xx. there is an update coming to 4.5, but noone has a release date as of yet on it. this will allow cards larger than 4gb to work.
not sure if it's been discussed or if anyones actually tried, but i've found that you can use the 8 gb card in at least the att 8310 with 4.2.2. the key is that you have to format the card on the pc and not the bb. once its formatted you have to pop it into the bb to get the folders, then hook the card back up to the pc using a card reader and not the bb. when you try to plug the bb into the pc with the card, the comp asks to format it and if you format it on the bb then it formats it to 4 gigs.
however by transferring your stuff over to the card via a card reader it works with my testing.
so to recap steps to use an 8 gb card in a curbe (and possibly other devices) with 4.2.2
1. make sure card is formatted via pc using a media card reader and not via the blackberry
2. put card in bb to get folders
3. put the card back into the media card reader and transfer your stuff over to the card
4. pop the card back into the bb and enjoy.
can anyone else confirm this or test it for me?

8gb will work on your Curve. At this time only 4gb of the 8gb will be usable. Buy an 8gb card. When the new OS is released, you'll be able to use all of it.
jsanders said:"The Media Card size limits are set by the OS version.
Your Curve should support up to a 4gb at this time."
i went to the link :
"BlackBerry devices that have media card capabilities are: 8100, 8300 and 8800.
They all use a MicroSD card and have the following maximum card GB capacities:
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8GB"
where is this info taken from? did anyone test 4 6 and 6 gb through and through ?
My boss just asked me to buy him the largest memory card supported now while on blackberry's site I couldn't find any info as to the size limit on the AT&T website it says up to 2 GB. Plus 4 GB and up is in SDHC territory and I haven't seen anywhere that this is supported. Does anyone have any documented info about this issue?
On sandisk's site they recommend 4 GB but I'm not sure they actually tested this.
the curve series devices currently supports 4gb. the 8330 for CDMA is the only exception, and it supports 8gb. This info comes directly from BlackBerry.

where on blackberry's site did you see this? does it say if it will support regular 4 gb or SDHC?
thanks
