Default Beta software problems... Hybrid 3.5.1

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

I recently installed the Hybrid 3.5.1 OS and everything is working great! But I have been having a few problems and it has been happening with a few betas I have been using in the past.

1) opening the download folder is really slow and was wondering if there was a way to improve that.

2) moving from landscape to portrait is slow but portrait to landscape is fast

and

3) and this is the most annoying one... to lock my screen I have to press the esc button right after pressing the lock button or it will not lock.

I am on a BES,I always do a clean Wipe before installing a new OS, and did several battery pulls.

Any idea on how to improve these problems

Thanks!

Brian

Just out of curiosity, are you on tmobile? I was just wondering how the .90 radio was working for you.

btesoroni....

the phone listed under your username is 8830, do you have a storm ? i assume u do because you mentioned portrait/landscape viewing....

which storm, 9530 ? also, read off the label on the box of your phone, there should be something about model #...could you post that here ? there's older and later models of the 9530 storm

i was running .76 for 2 + months since i got this phone and got sick of waiting for an official RIM .exe OS, so i tried the BBCrackman 3.5.1 hybrid. while reading the post over @ blackberryos, i saw him give an example using .114 as the base-OS installed on the PC. what OS did you have installed prior to doing this ? note: BBCrackman recommended that you do NOT have .122 already installed on the phone.

i havent noticed any of the issues you mentioned....but if you're using Verizon, why did you try 3.5.1 and not 3.5 ? 3.5.1 is better suited to tmob subscribers....

sharpie00...

i noticed that in the first min or so after a reboot that the radio plays a little....but then goes to solid EDGE and stays there. the base OS i used with 3.5.1 is .114.

after i first installed it i got an unexpected reboot, when i went into manage connections then when i selected mobile network options it rebooted. but it happened to me just that once.

i noticed that this hybrid made some system text larger than normal...the icons have larger text, and when making calls i noticed that my phone number overlapped the "My Number" words....

overall, wherever the text is not controlled by the values you set in screen/keyboard options, i found that it looked larger than what i had on .76.

i found out that this was a product of the radio file that came with 3.5.1 (it is the .90 radio). i then tried to put the radio from the .76 installation into the CDMA folder after installing 3.5.1....updating the device gave me a 523 error (corrupt or incompatible radio code).

so i decided that's as far as i want to go with hacked/hybrid OS's....
i reloaded .76 and i think i'll wait till the next official 9530 OS exe from RIM.
