Are you having any issues?
I'm wondering if this is a good idea or not since technically the software isn't even meant for the 8700 series devices.

If it were not meant for the 8700's, the 8700 would not recognize it as an upgrade.......right?

after looking through the blackberry.alx file this should be for 8700's also, and nowhere in the file is the 8707 referenced

8707 to 8700
There seem to have been some issues about Desktop Manager not recognizing an update when connected.
If you wish to update, here's what you need to do.
Make sure that you have a version of the 8700 OS on your computer in the RIM Files...After you finish downloading and installing the 8707 OS, open it, and copy all of the files into the 8700 folder. It will ask if you want to replace the current files, and click yes.
Make sure that you have the vendor.xml file deleted, and restart desktop manager, it will now realize that there is an upgrade for the device.
I have been running it on my BB for about 18 hours now, and have yet to recieve any kind of issues with it.
Let me know if this helps.

And that's what I thought was the case.
Something had to be done to make the 8700 recoginize the upgrade.

I'm bored at work right now (delegated everything except going to the bathroom) so I'll give it a try.
Copying the files prompted DM to perform the upgrade (made sure I deleted the vendor.xml file. After the upgrade, got a "JVM Error 102" and all I could do was restart. Going back to Telstra.
How does this work if the 8707 is a UMTS device and I've got EDGE?

Looks to me like the Applications code gets upgrade to 4.1.0.316, but the Platform stays at the EDGE release of 2.0.0.133.
So far, no adverse reactions. Outside of the fact that I lost some themes :O

What did I do wrong? I already had the Telstra ver installed on my computer, I installed the 8707v ver and copied all the files into the Telstra directory under common files/shared/loader files/8700-xxxxx and I removed the vendor.xml from the loader directory. It installed fine, but upon restart, I got the JVM 102 error.
