This is what I was asking: "Name cell phone or smartphone which is not proprietary."

The link you provided does not answer this question. It is not about hardware at all, and it is about software developer like GoodLink or Visto, writing closed source software for popular handhelds.
If this URL is about OpenSource code or they offer non-proprietary widely available smartphone, they hide it well.

the average CIO of an organization will clearly realize the ROI of Microsoft's solution, without the requirement of propietary software, to achieve virtually "real-time" email delivery.

Since when Microsoft's solution is not proprietary software?

my 2 cents
Any business must be very careful entering that market. It's usually not a win win situation......

Then don't post claiming that WM5 devices are less secure or whatever.

I think that the markets are overlapping, but different. WM5 devices are largely much more flexible, in many ways. As a programmer, the limitations in the API of the BB make me want to claw someone's eyes out. I also have to maintain our BES, which, while much improved, is still a PITA. From my perspective, having the WM5 solution using the same Exchange server we already use, that is simple.
