Default Blackberry Appstore Causing device to be slow?

Please Login to Remove!

I just recently installed a few apps and then installed the Blackberry Appstore and now my Storm is running sluggish and slow. I am kind of figuring that the Appstore is what is causing the Storm to be slow. I will uninstall it and see what that does.

Could also be the addition of the other apps causing your Storm to be low on available system memory. I have had AppWorld installed for a while now and haven't noticed any negative effects (besides downloading too many apps.)

Wirelessly posted

The appstore bogs down mine as well. Not very easy to use when it is downloading the pics and stuff

Make sure you're closing out of your applications when you're not using them by pressing the menu key and select close/exit. Otherwise they will run in the background and cause the device to lag.

Are you closing the program completely when exiting? like hitting Menus then selecting Exit? Maybe you're leaving the program open and it's updating itself? I don't think it's the kind of program that updates itself until it's opened so I don't think it uses any resources when it's not open.

Actually the few small apps I downloaded did not cause the slowdown. I was using them and the phone was fine. Then I installed the Appworld and had to restart my phone and when it came back on, it was noticeably slower. And I am talking about a lot slower. I was using the phone with the other apps installed and it was running fine. I staved off on restarting the phone after I installed appworld and used the phone for a while. Then I restarted and it became slower.

Nevermind, I am getting rid of this piece of crap phone! I have done a hard reset with a Verizon rep and now the darn thing is slower than usual!! I am never buying Crapberry products again! I should have heeded all the reviews and NOT buy this garbage!

Hmm. What OS are you running on the device to begin with.

I am running the legit version of .75. I am waiting for Crapberry to finally come out with an update for this overrated paperweight.

RIM has released other versions of the OS. Verizon has not. You can load any other version of OS on your device. It will run WAY faster. .132 is pretty solid. .122 was released by Bell in Canada for the 9530.

You can find it here:
http://www.blackberrynews.com/2009/0...leaked-online/

.141 is the most recent leaked OS. Remember it is from RIM.

Would you suggest 132 or 141?

There are threads around these forums discussing both. I have no experience with .141. .132 is a solid build.

Yes, you install the OS on your PC, and then connect the device to your PC, launch desktop manager and load the OS on your device.

Follow the steps found in the .122 thread you posted in.

Ok thanks for the info on this, js, I am downloading now. If I have any issues, Verizon will help me uninstall to the .75 and I will have to just suffer until the full release comes out. I really don't like beta anything, but I am really unhappy with such an unfinished product. They should have waited until all the bugs were worked out. But they needed to compete with iPhone so the Storm came out I think a year too early at least.

That's a fair assumption. Let us know how things go.
