Default A few questions for a Blackberry Ninja!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

New Blackberry user for aboout 3 weeks now. Just ditched my Treo 650 and I am a pretty happy camper. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping I could have answered:

1) My office has an Excel list of everyone's phone extension. I use to just store that on my Treo memory card and open it whenever I needed to look up an extension. The only way I can think to do this on my Pearl is to e-mail the list to myself - and keep opening it as an e-mail attachement. I can copy it to the media card - but it doesn't show up in any app and I am not aware of how (or if) you can access the excel viewer to actually see it. Is this possible on a Blackberry?

2) I access a corporate exchange server using BIS via IMAP. This works great. The only problem I have is that if I download a message, read it and then respond to it later on my PC. What happens when I "respond" to an e-mail is the BIS server somehow thinks it's a new e-mail again and sends me the same message again as new (I am assuming because the status has changed from "read" to "replied"). Is there a way to prevent this? I am getting alot of duplicate messages on my Blackberry's inbox

3) I'll put this one bluntly. What exactly are Service Books? I understand that I can send them to my phone - and from what I gather - resending them sometimes fixes problems. But I am still confused as to what they are and what they do. FYI - I have read the entire Peal manual (the big one) and I am still not clear.

Thanks in advance to any guidance you can provide. I hate not knowing how to work something.

1. Check out handango.com They have some document viewer for blackberry.

2. Sorry, can't help you here.

3. Service books simply tell your phone what you are provisioned for.

Thanks. So there is no way of using the already-built-in viewer?

This is not very elegant, but you could save the Excel file as a text file (comma or tab-delimited), then it should be readable on your BB.
