Not sure why everyone is having so much problems, I installed it on my BB 9700, and not one problem, guess i got lucky.

- wifi/UMA works Perfectly ( after sometime playing with router)

- Blue tooth works fine (connects to tom tom GPS for hands free calling fine)

- Battery Life if same as before

- No media errors

***only bad thing with this version OS is some Apps wont work with this version OS*** small price to pay for having working UMA service

Hello! In this moment i have OS version 5.0.0.656 on my BB 9700. But i have a problem about which i wrote already on this forum.. The phone shuts down when the battery level reaches 30% (the phone is new and meanwhile i changed also the old battery.. but the problem persists). Do you thing it's about OS software and once i'll update my OS to the newest version, the issue will be solved? Has anyone this kind of problem, and if so, was it solved after updated OS? Thanks!

Well if you install this OS you will have alot of call drop outs (disconnections)

Install 5.0.0.680

It's the best in terms of speed, signal quality, no bugs reported! and it'll fix your problem hopefully

Two problems that I have found on using this build on T-Mobile.

1. Call log MIGHT report incorrect number when you don't answer.
2. SMS texts MIGHT become jumbled and out of order when receiving many in a row from the same number.

Guys this OS is rubbish, it is fast, but has crappy signal strength my calls keep dropping.

The best OS I have tested in my lab is 5.0.0.680 which can be found here >>> http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...nguage-du.html

It has the fastest speed, good battery life, amaaazing signal strength, and no problems with Wi-Fi connectivity such as the other operating systems.

Try it out now, I suggest a complete OS wipe via the use of BBSAK though.

MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE

Perhaps in your home - but not most anywhere else. Lab testing? Had you tested them by implementing proper procedure, with (very expensive) test equipment using precise results, you'd probably find you're wrong.

.680 breaks Slingplayer Mobile so for me it's garbage as I use Sling practically on a daily basis. Although .862 did fix the issue with Sling, I'm unconvinced that it's any better than .656 that was the last stable OS that Slingplayer mobile worked with. I'm staying put because from what I've read in this thread, there's nothing about .862 that seems worth my time and effort to try it.

The official version of this was released by RIM today. I just upgraded it. Not seen any major changes but it has been only 1 hour. Anyone seen anything different?

When will there be another OS update in here? I haven't seen one since August. Where else can I find 9700 OS updates?

Just downloaded and installed myself this morning. Will post back once I have a chance to play with it. No UMA icon though!

Well, after a week of steady use, the only thing I see different is very poor battery performance. I used to put it in the dock about 11 pm with about 60-70% left. Now it is more like 30-40%. And I have yet to see a UMA icon even though I an connected to WiFi for several hours every day. Thumbs down on this upgrade!

Default no good

Installed this os on my 9700 (Tmobile). Now half the time cannot dial from homescreen (sometimes can and sometimes can't). Yes I have it set to so allow. Went back to last one officially released by Tmobile (.714). Works fine.

Oh, after a week upgrade to .862, I have got some probs that can be fixed:
1. I can't use the mute button on the right top.
2. I can't lock my BB with K key as I used to do with my previous version OS.
3. Can't edit my profile. All ringtone's files in my device have been locked forward, and they all got a small lock sign at their icons.
4. I can't connect to my wifi connection with out turning on the mobile network.
So, what can I. Do now?
