I fixed my issue with media files not playing. Unfortunately I made several changes at once so I'm not sure which was the solution.

I removed the nabsync cod files (new since 680).

I added medialoader_backgrounds (which I had tried before with no impact on ability to play music or view video), fumoPokeLib, all the basic tid_dynamic_ling files (english only) and tid_dynamic_transcoding_data_CP1250.

Wish I knew which change solved the problem. Either way, now I can remove xPlayer as a workaround.

I'm sure no one is terribly interested in my experiments, but thought I'd share in case someone else hits the same snag.

You can get the latest OS at the very top of this thread or just click on this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-eastasia.html. Follow the directions exactly. If you have any questions just ask.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Every OS includes English. We don't all speak Chinese!

Anyone notice a problem with UMA on this version? The connection is fine but the call quality is terrible.

Default Help on Bricked AT&T 9700

Can anyone help me with http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...s-upgrade.html?
I can't believe that everyone is upgrading well and smoothly but me. There must be similar experience and solutions to share in this board... (and the 101 or FAQ solutions seemed out-dated and only work for curve back in 2007,2008,2009...)

Ok so some of you are going back to 680, correct? I have an AT&T Bold and would like to get off the stock 5.0.0.602 with all the preloaded at&t crap on it. So should i go with 680 from Hutchinson? Or should I go with 743 thats listed in this thread? Thoughts?

You'll still get all the preloaded crap no matter what OS you use. It's not dependent on the OS.

The "preloaded crap" doesn't consume much memory... 99% of them are just links to the web to download/run the app. The best and least frustrating solution is to stick all of that in a folder (mine is called AT&TCrap) and then hide the folder. Out of sight, out of mind... the 9700 has tons of memory, so you won't even miss the piddly amount that these things use up.

Google for an app called Shrink-A-OS.exe. It will be self-explanatory how to get rid of the crap when you run it.

So what about those of you that choose to go back to 680? I can't do without my visual voicemail.

just realised that I have signal problems. the device is sometimes loosing signal and the only way to get it back is by removing the battery pack....don't know if I can't be asked to downgrade now or simply leave it until a new OS is released....
