Default Upgrade 4.0.3 to 4.1.6 Domino

Please Login to Remove!

Hello
We want to upgrade our BES 4.0.3 (Domino 8.0 and 6.5 on BES) to 4.1.6.
How must we do that?

I wanted to install a new server with 4.1.6. and move teh users.
But after having moved the users, what must i do to turn off the old server (what must be moved ?)?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I would highly recommend you call RIM and have them on the phone and have them walk you through the upgrade process. We tried it on our own a year ago and it blew up in our face because you have to perform backup tasks and other steps in a precise fashion to avoid issues. We had luckily had created a mirrored drive and were able to restore our server to as it was before we started the upgrade, and had RIM walk us through the process over the phone and it worked perfectly. We are upgrading from BES 4.1.4 to 4.1.6 on Monday, and actually just called them to setup a time to call us so they can walk us through this upgrade too. Good luck!

This should probably be moved to the BES Admin forum.

So you have Domino 8 as your main mail server. Domino 6.5 with BES version 4.0.3 currently? Is your SQL database local or on a dedicated SQL server? Do you want to upgrade the Domino version that resides on the BES (would be wise since you won't get HTML support from 6.5)?

There is a RIM KB article concerning a knife edge cutover, maybe a good option for you, but as recommended above I would definitly get RIM involved.
