Default standby mode and battery consumption

Please Login to Remove!

My blackberry and its battery was totally OK. When it is in holster or when I press the preset convenient key, the keyboard will be locked and screen back light fades to save battery.

However, in certain circumstance, I pressed mute button. I don't know when and how I did it. Perhaps when I tried to use mute key to silence a phone call. Blackberry bold got into standby mode as all key board stopped response and shown the message" ...in standby mode, press mute button to exit". It was really hard to hit or press the mute key. Anyway, eventually I made it after 10+ tries. Then I thought once I am out of that standby mode, it will be back to normal. I realized that "standby mode" sticks to my blackberry bold and I cannot get rid of it. That message" ...in standby mode, press mute button to exit" came back several times. Every time I have to press mute button to exit that mode, even it is hard to use that button. From that then, the battery consumption was 3 times faster than before. It used to standby 3-4 days, now it is only a day after fully recharge with 5-10 minutes call.

I pulled out the battery and reset it. It didn't work. Then I upgrade my OS to 4.6.0.282. Since then, it seems that annoying standby mode disappeared. Once came back once. But the battery consumption is still 3 times faster then it used to be. I suspect that bloody standby mode is hiding somewhere at back stage.

Can I complete get rid of that standby mode

Anyone experienced it or able to help? thanks in advance.

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

I'm guessing you have a stuck button... I'd check and confirm if it is or not before we go any further

Try going to a store and switching your battery to see if that resolves your problem.

so does standby mode consume more battery than just using keyboard lock?
