Default Prob w/ Phone Log & Calendar Clearing on 8830

Please Login to Remove!

All of a sudden the other day my phone log and my calendar cleared themselves. My calendar seems to have only cleared previous items but it is set to keep them 'forever'. So I have no idea why it decided to clear all the previous calendar entries as well as my phone log.

I have room for all these things according to memory and I have an SD card in the phone.

So any thoughts. And using backup is not an option, so my stuff is lost, my computer died. I did have a backup but I will still have about 30 days lapse.

This happened one other time but I just thought it was something I did but now again it happens, and the phone was fine when I went to bed and plugged in to charge. When I got up the next day, all the stuff was gone.

Any ideas?? I am beginning to think I have a problem and if so, I need to figure this out and get a replacement before my warranty expires next month.

Sounds like a memory leak. Do you have a lot of apps, music, pics, ringtones loaded? How much free memory do you have?

A battery pull while the device is still on usually helps fix this temporarily.

The issue most likely is that you don't have free memory, e-mails, call logs and applications are saved only on the blackberry memory, so even if it has a SD card, it won't use that to store any of this applications.

You can press Alt+Shift+H while you are on the main screen to get the help me screen, there is listed the File Free, that shows the amount of space free for apps, mail, call logs, calendar, etc.

Regards

Okay jjmach, thanks for the info. I tried that and it shows now that I have 135717 bytes. Obviously I am not a very tech savvy person so I have no idea if this is a lot or a little memory. However, I do have one or two apps but that is it. All my pics are on the SD card and I pretty much erase emails and stuff every couple of days. Matter of fact, when this happened I probably had fewer emails and messages than I had had in a long time. That is why I didn't understand it happening.

Anyway thank you for the info, guess I will just have to start keeping a hard copy calendar in case something like this happens again.

135717 bytes is extremely LOW! There has to be more than a couple apps there for it to be that low. Pull the battery and then see how much free memory you have.

Now it shows 6593997 bytes after the battery pull with 47841280 bytes file total.

Still awfully low. There has to be something(S) very large eating all the memory. Ringtones, themes, music, photos, email attachments?

What OS are you running?

What 3rd Party applications do you have loaded?
