Default New Icon? What is it for?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, it is after MUCH searching, and exploring that I come in need of some help. Yesterday, I got a notice from my desktop manager, that said I had to upgrade my system software on my BB 9530 (Bell). I now have 5.0.0.419. But here is my situation. I am going nuts trying to figure out a new alert icon that has popped up, which I cannot find the related alert for. It has the red starburst on it, which normally indicates a new message in some application. The associated icon looks almost exactly like the BB messenger icon, but it is YELLOW. Looks like a chat bubble from the comic books, I am sure you know what ones I mean. I checked MSN messenger, and BB messenger, the only 2 IM services I have installed. I also went into every folder, to every program, looking for the red starburst, but nothing shows. Ok, who knows what this is?

Thanks in advance.

Sonny

I don't think so, my usual SMS icon is similar to my message icon, an envelope, but slanted. This is a chat bubble, with lines inside. Also, there is no SMS message showing in my messages list. I will keep investigating, thanks for the reply!

Did you upgrade your OS recently? Sure sounds like the new SMS/MMS icon.

Yes as I said in the OP, this started after an upgrade. Well now that you both think it is my SMS icon, I am starting to believe you are right. But now I have another problem, where is it putting my SMS messages? I went through my message list and ALL my SMS messages are gone. I can't find them anywhere. They USED to show up in my regular message list.

Ah... I missed the part about the OS 5 installation. There should be an "SMS and MMS" application (looks like a phone with the SMS bubble on top of it). It may be in a folder, or it may be hidden.

If it looks like BBM, and its sms, then its a threaded SMS in BBM.

It's most certainly the SMS/MMS folder icon, you have a new SMS.

The notification icon style changed with the new OS.

Is there a way to take a screenshot with the 9530? If there is, I don't know how.

Yes, there are many ways. JLCmder, ZonaSnap, CaptureIt.

But don't waste your time, it's the SMS icon I tell you. Been there done that.

In the messages screen, go to options, inbox settings, make sure the sms & mms is checked. This will allow the mms to be seen in the general message folder.

You should be able to see your sms now & yes, the icon has changed as noted already.
