Why does the storms camera take a pic 5 sec after you click the button and not instant like all other camera phones? Is there a setting that can be changed or are all storm cameras work this way?

Thanks,
Tom

Since the camera is autofocus you have to hover over the button until it turns green, thus focused, then take the picture. Yes, it does take a little longer but you will get a half-way decent photo everytime.

I have found the camera to be problematic. I probably won't use it unless absolutely necessary. But, then I didn't buy the phone for the camera.

The camera on the Storm is most definitely sub par.
Yes, every digital cam has lag, but the lag on the Storm is excessive.
The flash does not synch to the shutter.
For a 3.2 MP camera, the picture quality (unless in a very well lit setting...outdoors) is not what it should be.

I upgraded from the Dare which had a 3.2 MP Carl Zeiss lens and took GREAT pics. True, didn't buy the Storm for the camera, but it was advertised as a great feature and I'm finding out it's not so good.

Hopefully gets fixed with an OS upgrade. Is anyone at VZW paying attention??

I too hope they resolve some of the Camera issues on the storm through software updates.

Trying to time pics of the kids with the delay is a booger and a half.

But when I do the pics are very nice.

I was hoping this would replace lugging around a camera too, not yet I guess ...

I am also pretty disappointed in the camera.
I do need to take quite a few photos and it is rather difficult.
Waiting on the OS upgrade to hope it will at least include settings i can tweak to improve this issue.

Focus first..... big difference. Also don't go by the 'click' sound. the picture is already taken before you hear it. With .85 you can see when the pic is taken. anyway every camera phone stinks. think about it. the would phone and camera cost less then a good point and shoot digital Camera.. hmmmm

I am very happy with the Quality of the photos that I have taken with the Storm Camera, it is indeed one of the better cameras that I have used on a phone. I believe that future software updates will speed things up.

Agreed. The camera lag is a pain, but it's still light years ahead of the crappy camera on both the Sidekicks that I owned. It'll get fixed in the OS updates ahead.

I have owned the Dare and then the Pearl. I just got the Storm last week. I was very impressed with the camera feature on the Dare and was satisfied enough with it to quit caring around my big camera (except for a few events). Of course, the Pearl's camera was terrible. I was expecting the camera on the Storm to at least be equal to the Dare and am VERY unhappy with it. An update SOON would be much appreciated. I didn't buy the phone FOR the camera, but I did buy it so I can have an all-in-one package.

+1 for that!

Didn't buy the Storm BECAUSE of the camera, but it was a selling point and IMO the camera on the Storm is pretty crappy. Very slow, laggy and if indoors 7.5/10 times it takes a crappy picture. Here's hoping an OS update will sort out some of this stuff, but I'm not holding my breath. They will most likely fix the other stuff people are complaining about first.
