I just removed the 2 relevant files directly from the Java folder and it seems to have worked. Was this not the correct thing to have done? Please let me know as I hope I haven't messed something else up.

changing the vendor id worked for me.. seems like the quicker way to do it too! is there any sort of long term side effect to doing this?

I had no files in my Shared/Loader directory except one that started with 8700-xxxxxxxxxx (device I had 3 BBs ago). So I went the javaloader route and it worked almost too easily.

Thanks again to those on this board that really know what they are talking about!

Javaloader works good for that. The reason you didn't have those files is because you don't have the OS software package installed to your PC.

Thanks John. I assume if I update the OS later I will have to remove the PTT files again?

-Open the Platform alx file, then click Edit>Find and enter:
fileset pttApp="True" Java="1.0" _vendorID="102"

-Change the 102 to 220 and save and close the file

-Connect your BB

-Run Desktop Manager

-Click APP Loader and go thru prompts it will remove ptt from BB

That is the step by step that worked for me.
Good Luck
Why wouldn't you just change the string "true" to "false"??

Input one command at a time as the device will reboot by itself after each input. This will work as long as you have the drivers for the device correctly installed.

rboy do you have BlackBerry JDE Component Package?
I used javaloader and typed in the those seperate commands and it worked like a charm.

I was confused at first on how to actually accomplish executing the command lines.. but I finally figured out you just open windows command prompt.. Locate the folder Javaloader is in.. and execute the commands.. Worked great.. Thanks for the help..

I didn't use to consider myself dumb, but this project is starting to make me feel pretty stupid.

I can't figure out how to even install JavaLoader on my computer.

I can't find the shared/loader files to change the vendor code.\

I have JDE 4.2 on my computer, but I'm completely clueless on how it works.

Can someone explain in simple terms the easiest way to get PTT off of my phone?

Thanks for your help!
