Input one command at a time as the device will reboot by itself after each input. This will work as long as you have the drivers for the device correctly installed.

Excellent! Thank you!!!

All the info is in this thread but here it is put together:
-Go to:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8300-v4.2.2.89_P2.4.0.39

-Open the Platform alx file, then click Edit>Find and enter:
fileset pttApp="True" Java="1.0" _vendorID="102"

-Change the 102 to 220 and save and close the file

-Connect your BB

-Run Desktop Manager

-Click APP Loader and go thru prompts it will remove ptt from BB

That is the step by step that worked for me.
Good Luck

I am unable to locate. Would the vendorID be different if you are using the Rogers OS? If not can someone post a snap shot of where in the .alx it is?

Thanks

I think it would be different, yes.

Try taking out some of the line, you are only using the "find" to help with the search. Try something like this:
fileset pttApp="True" Java="1.0"

It (for me) was easier to go in to the platform .alx and remove the code form there. Worked without a hitch (when I found it) and picked up a decent amount of memory. Instructions on how to do this are in this thread

I need help. I go to Program Files, Common Files, RIM, but no Shared Files folder.

Do I need to do a reinstall of something?

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing it by modifying the .alx file or using the java loader?

I have att atm and I may switch to tmobile and buy the 8300 outright(this one I'm hoping). Should I modify the alx then? If i get the service books pushed back out to my device is it going to appear again?

Anyone know how to elminate that crap music (music store stuff as well) or does that not take up space?

Yes.. if you have BES, enterprise service, the full data load will force a new activate.. for my company this is a 3 day process to get the new activation password..

The Javaloader approach just removes/adds the files

i used the jl commander javaloader. All I found was load.exe in the C:\program files\common files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\4795d1155903533-jl_cmder-jl_cmder-v1.8.3-installer\JL_Cmder v1.8.3

Didn't realize this was all so technical starting to remind me of work. ;)

Thanks that helped a bunch. I tried attaching it to a shortcut and adding it after the .exe" -_____ but that didn't work. Where is the standard javaloader.exe found?

Is there anyway to get ptt back should I ever(i doubt it ) decide to activate the service? Will it come back every os update? Or is this like the final solution?

thanks. Turns out after installing rogers osx. Thanks to your edited alx (thanks I believe are due). PTT is back so you must redo the java loader again.

If there is nothing in the shared/loader files folder that usually means that you don't have the OS installed to the PC.
