Let's have a poll (why not, this whole subforum is speculation ). When the 8300 comes out, how much will you pay for the device to have it right away. Let's make up some rules:

- device only, no contract upgrades or other hoohah; pretend you walked into Safeway and wanted to buy it like a block of cheese.

- you were going to add $50 (random number) to the purchase price to get it unlocked so you could use it on your carrier of choice

- you are buying it out-of-pocket; work is not buying it for you e.g.

I think $400 is the sweet spot in the pricing matrix. I wouldn't hesitate at that price. I might go as high as $500 but I'd wait to see the full feature set, hear about battery life, etc.

I feel the same, that seems like the right pricepoint without a WiFi or GPS chip/unit inside as they're predicting the base 8300 to be. (but who knows what will get released for real, we just have to wait) Something in the $359 - $399 price range on the street/fleabay.

And look how popular it is! Everyone likes to vote for pirates for any reason...if it wasn't for pirates we probably wouldn't have Australia.

I wouldn't pay anything for it ... it's a clunker ... I have the 8800 and it's better .... max. features are not everyhting for the professional user ... small size is more important ...

I'd pay $500 (especially if it is going to be WiFi). The keyboard is supposed to be "more bigger" with regards to key spacing. But I would have to say the Pirates cuz' they are crazy!!

i would never pay more than 300 for a smartphone, especially a blackberry...it's not worth spending so much since either prices dip or there is another model that comes out right after, and then you look at the blackberry you overpaid for and say to yourself: "damn, i should have waited"...happened to me quite a few times already!

For the 23% of Pirate lovers who voted, I give you this article backing up your beliefs:

Quote:
A student has been suspended from school in America for coming to class dressed as a pirate.

But the disciplinary action has provoked controversy – because the student says that the ban violates his rights, as the pirate costume is part of his religion.
Yours in spagnosticness,
rivvie
