Default 8300 vs. 8800 numbering??

Please Login to Remove!

I am still in my 30 day trial on my 8800 and love everything about it except the keyboard. I could fly on my 7920 (people always remarked on it....) but the keyboard is just a little too close together. I am getting better, but nothing like what I was.

Now I am reading about the 8300 and the pics look like the keyboard is better and the camera feature would be nice.

But the 8300 number confuses me....

Why not 8900 or something? That number seems to imply that it is a step up from the Pearl - not the 8800, but the full keyboard and other functions sounds to me like it is a step forward from the 8800 with nothing missing.

I would consider taking my 8800 back and waiting for the 8300, if it had all the 8800 has plus the "better" keyboard and camera.

Am I missing something?

Unluky,

Have you checked out
www. boygeniusreport.com ? BG goes into a lot of detail to compare the BB 8300 and BB 8800. His info should answer some of your questions.

Keep in mind, though, that there are other BB's coming out in the not too distant future, such as
BB 8820 and BB 8830.

Yeah - but the 8820 and 8830 will have the same keyboard....which is my only complaint about the 8800. The 8300 SEEMS to have everything the 8800 does with the old style keyboard I like. BG even says it reminds him of the 7290 - which I love.

The 8300 name just confused me as it seems to be out of sequence. I just wanted to see if I was missing something.

Thanks for the input.

companies often do this though I believe this is a first for RIM. But other manufacturers have been doing it for years
