I've switched a couple days ago from a Pearl to a Curve, Vodafone send a message that the device succesfully registered on the network. The only thing I had to do is on the Vodafone website was changing my pin and IMEI. I donxxx8217;t know if itxxx8217;s the same with your provider.

Same with all providers. If you stay with the same carrier, but change the device in BIS, the PIN is released.

The OP has a different issue. He/she bought it on ebay. The PIN/IMEI os registered with another carrier in a different country. Much different.

I have the same problem with my BB8310, If I get the username and password for the other provider I can login and release the PIN and then register with my provider?

Default Having the same problem

I read through the thread, but I still don't know how to get the PIN/IMEI "released".

I brought my (and the wife's) US T-Mobile BB's to Hungary. I had them unlocked and voice works. Trying to set up an account on Vodafone, but get the above error message.

Did you cancel your BIS accounts with T-Mobile? That is the problem. Your PIN and IMEI are still connected to your T-MO BIS accounts. Unlocking doesn't fix this problem. You have to call T-Mo and get them to cancel your BIS accounts and then you can use the PIN and IMEI to set up new BIS accounts with your new carrier.

And it isn't nice to hijack someone else's thread.
