He needs to log into his old BIS account and delete the account.

Ask him to log into his account and delete his e-mail accounts, then do a whipe out and your blackberry will be as good as new

You also need to have your friend contact his old carrier and have them deactivate his BIS account. Then you can wipe the device and the email accounts will be gone. This way when you go to activate it for yourself, it won't say "device is already activated".

you can just delete the service book for his account. the best way to clean it up would be to wipe the device and re-set it up with you settings only.

That would work until the device is rebooted or the service books are re-sent. He needs to have the device deactivated in the BIS system.

I took "I am not receiving any of his emails either, it is just there. " as it was already removed from the previous BIS account but the service books remained because the device was not wipped after being removed.

Agree on deleting the service books. I just did the same thing with mine. Try that first because you'll need to do it anyway. Reboot and see if the icon reappears.
