[QUOTE=CO_BBTechie;1031796]Searching does wonders.....

Thanks for the tip on searching....however...

Those instructions seem to be for a 8300 on the GSM network. As this is a 8330 cdma, it does not have the SIM card menu in the options. Hence why I asked the question.

Hmmm...why is it that you can not unlock a cdma phone? My carrier is telling me that they can give me an unlock code so I can switch to another provider. Is this not the case?

That is a totally different code provided by your carrier that takes your bb off their system... I suggest you call your carrier for futher follow up.

Haha..fair enough. Actually I won this BB from Bell, but I am a current Telus user. Telus told me the BB would have to be unlocked (or unattached) from the bell network, so that they could hook on to it with their network.

My Bell rep said that he could also get it unlocked so that it would work on the Telus network. Can you not buy a BB directly from RIM and have it activated on any carrier as long as the network is supported by that carrier?

You can unlock CDMA devices. It just doesn't do you any good, since other CDMA carriers will not allow "foreign" devices on their network.

Actually both providers use the exact same network and even share towers with each other. Niether one of them said it woiuld be an issue.

I am just asking on here to be sure that I am not getting jerked around
