Default 8330 Personalizing?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got an 8330 "Curve" from Sprint. I want to do two things.
1) add more icons to the front panel
2) fix the "message" folder so it does not contain my emails that I already have folders for.

Am I dreaming?

Welcome to the forums!

1. Do you have specific icons in mind?

2. The Message folder is always the root delivery point for e-mail push-so, no matter how many other folders you have on board, a copy of the e-mail will always be there. You could hide the Messages icon, thus making it convenient to ignore the general e-mail queue associated with it.

Address Book and Celndar should already be there, as they are apps that come "onboard" with the device. From your home screen, press the menu key, then select "show all" form the menu. That should surface them.

3rd party apps like Facebook should aslo give you a home screen icon when you install the app.

There is a Front Page that now has 5 icons and the "Applications" icon on it. The 5 are the first five icons on the Applications page. If I want to have more than 5, can I?

Ah...Ok, this makes sense now...my confusion, sorry...

You should aslo have a "second" page that shows all of the icons (you can get there by pressing the menu key form that front page).

The first five icons on the main menu screen are what appear as the five on your front page. You can arainge them from the main menu, but for the particular type of theme you have, you can't add any additional ones.

You can add different themes to your device, many have more "front page" options. Check out the link below, there are some excellent, creative themes out there to be had:

The front page is theme-controlled. There are themes that show more than 5 icons, you just have to hunt for them. Check out the Media forum here at BBF, or pimpmyberry.com

Change your theme under option and organize your icons in the order you like. It will be easier.

Thank you for the great information. I will give the "Theme" thing some looking at.

Just be aware that Messages is the only place that PIN messages arrive. Unless you've separated SMS/MMS it's also the only place that those messages will arrive. It's also the only place to find saved web pages, saved browser requests and possible a few other things I can't think of off the top of my head.

What you see in Messages and in the specific email account icon are really just "views" of the same email -- not duplicates. Delete one under one icon and it's deleted under the other as well.
