This thread has exactly the answers I came here looking for! I need a memory card in order to use the new video recording feature!

I'm going to prob get a 4GB because of budget restrictions, but would my 8310 support 8GB [Yes I have 4.5]

Yes it would.

So, my Transcend Class 4 is considerably slower to access from (i.e., taking pictures, watching movies, etc...) than my 1GB PNY (don't know what Class it is, but its for sure not a Class 4)

I know that since it is an 8GB that there will would be some latency, but not like this. When i take a picture, it takes roughly 25 seconds before I can take another one. When I am taking pictures of my son playing baseball, that just wont cut it.

Does anyone with 8GB cards have this issue? If you are not experiencing this lag and you do have an 8Gb, can you please tell me what Class it is and the brand.

Thanks guys.

I have a new Orange UK 8320, which I've upgraded to v4.5.0.52, but it still can't correctly access the 2.65GB of mp3's on my 8GB Sandisk SDHC card. I have similar problems with a (secondhand) 8820 that I bought on eBay. The mp3 files display and play perfectly when the SDHC card is plugged into a PC; however, on both Blackberries only around half of the mp3 subdirectories are shown, and many of the mp3's cause the phone to display 'incorrect format' or some similar message.

I suspect that there are directory size limitations in addition to memory card size limitations - is anyone aware of such limitations?

Please accept my apologies if there is a more relevant thread - I couldn't find one.

I bought an 8 gig sandisk I think from Amazon ($25 bulk packaging) and it does NOT have anywhere near that lag. I just checked it and there is approximately 5 seconds between taking one picture and taking the next. Not sure on the class without checking, but I think it was class 4.

So I bought an 8 Gb SD card yesterday for my curve... and I'm not having much luck with it right now... It should have 8 GB of space but when I formatted it for blackberry, it went down to 3.4GB I'm trying to install OS 4.5 and see if that makes a difference... Also I can't transfer any media onto the card using the manager... I left it on all last night and not one file moved... any advice?

On the 8320, OS 4.2 will only see 4gb of space on the 8gb card, OS 4.5 will see the full 8gb (acutally 7.6).

Don't use Media Manager. On the card (options > media card) enable mass storage and support), and view the card on your PC under removable drives in "my computer".

Make certain your USB to the BB is plugged to the main USB ports on the rear of the PC,not a USB hub or monitor port.

8gb Amazon - under $26.00 shipped...

You can pre-format your 8gb on a PC and use it on OS 4.2 if you have not upgraded the OS, (usable 7.6gb) but why wait to upgrade? Unless someone is waiting for AT&T on the 25th of Sept. ...

Larger micro sd cards use a different system and are designated as microsdhc (the hc stands for high capacity). Your adapter likely only supports the regular microsd cards.
