No Verizon BlackBerrys have WiFi. That would include the Storm.

I've never seen a use for wifi myself, but I am guessing it could be handy.

BB does put WiFi in their phones, but not in all of them.

Blackberries with WiFi:

8120 - Pearl
8220 - Pearl Flip
8320 - Curve
8900 - new Curve
8820
9000 - Bold

I may have missed few models.

If you are in an area of poor mobile coverage, but WiFi, your phone (on T-Mobile) and data will still work with WiFi. It's great.

Verizon doesn't put WiFi on the Verizon branded BlackBerrys....
If they can't control the connection, they won't do it!

Verizon will not use wi-fi because they would make less money if you do not have to use there data plan!

don't they make sd cards that pick up wifi? i don't have use for wifi myself, but for someone who really need it, might be an option. you'd have to live without your 8 (or 16) gigs of mem though.

Verizon can still require a charge for a data plan, and have put Wi-Fi on the phone and still not lose money. I am guessing they don't want to deal with the technical support because they don't have control over the wireless network you might be connecting to.

Its not a money thing. Just like the iPhone, the Storm could have wifi and still charge for data. The VZW Omnia has wifi and requires a minimum Data plan (29.99 unlimited, non corporate), but the Storm has 6 network bands. Also, BB did not want the same drop issues found in the BOLD and iPhone to happen. So they left the wifi and also left it out of the 9500 to ensure people didn't go and buy unlocked 9500 and roll them to ATT.

I think I read somewhere that RIM decided not to put WiFi on the Storm because it wasted too much battery battery power. Don't quote me on that though.
