Changing Time Zones
Please Login to Remove!
When I went from Arizona to Los Angeles and of course right now there is a time change but the time on my BB didn't update. I checked the settings in the Time and Date section and have the BB set to pul from Network Time and below that it shows the correct LA time under network time, but above that above the line next to time it says the time that it is in Arizona. Has anyone else run into this issue and is there any way to fix it?
Thanks!

Gotta do it manually
That's the way BB is set up. Be alert to how you set appts though and the time zone if you want it to make sense.

Jeez! What a pain, then why even have the option for having the BB set to Network time!? Oh we'll.... Thanks for the reply, I noticed that about the time regarding appointments!

The Network time thing is just about keeping the BB's clock on the correct time. Think in terms of UMT (GMT). What time zone you use to present the time is a different function, which is not automated.
And for anyone feeling like the BB sucks at this - so does Outlook. Take Stinsondog's suggestion for example...If you are scheduling a meeting while your computer is set for Arizona time, but your meeting will be in California, you have to convert the time yourself before you set the appt. You do not get an option when setting the appointment in Outlook to choose the time zone you'd like to use as a reference.
I guess I'll stop my rant now, and just leave it at this - keeping the clock accurate is what the Network Time setting does. Setting the Time Zone is separate, and still requires manual intervention.

At least it does keep the time correct, but I agree it is a pain for those that travel.
Unfortunately, there is also a setting on the BB for what timezone you are in and that is the one that is broke, because it doesn't let you pick the "Network Timezone".

I had to worry about this recently. I live in Austin and will be in Vegas all next week for meetings. I use Lotus Notes at work and when I setup the meeting invitations there is a setting to set the meeting at a different time zone. So, for example, I setup a meeting at 7AM PST for next Wednesday (Vegas time). Right now, the meeting shows in my calendar for 9AM CST time. When I get to Vegas, if the phone doesn't turn to PST automatically I will do it manually. The calendar will know the correct time for the meeting.
Outlook doesn't have this feature?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
I'm sure there are all sorts of workarounds (such as displaying two time zones in the 'day' view of the calendar, and then choosing the right time to call the meeting). But in the standard meeting request form, there's no drop-down to select the time zone for the meeting to prevent mistakes. It's not that big of a deal, except if you make a mistake for a meeting with a lot of attendees. Anyway, we're getting off-topic…

In the BB menu you can select the time zone for an appointment but then when you change the time zone under options it changes all the times in you calendar, VERY annoying, I think this is an issue that RIM needs to address. I'm guessing other people are feeling the same?

No, not me. I find it easier to mentally make the adjustment....

Nope. I don't want the BB to change time zones. I travel all over the world. I think I can handle it.

No, me too. I want to be able to enter the time for the time zone I will be in and not have the BlackBerry change the appointment times because I chaged the time zones. Especially when it is a flight that I might miss. I have complained of this before. I do a lot of traveling and our government travel source allows us to download all of our reservations via Infotriever to Outlook for sync to our calendar. All times are local. There should be an option on the calendar to not change appointment times when changing time zones.

Nope. No sarcasm. I travel coast to coast from central time zone very often. I keep my BB on my home time zone, and adapt accordingly. I don't want the BB to make the changes for me as my primary appoitments are in my home zone.

The airline flight deal (which I can handle) is the only problem. I have people scheduling meetings using Outlook all the time, in their local time zones. Before the main cabin door is closed and all portable electronics and cell phones must be shut down for the duration of the flight (another load of BS, but whatever), I set the BB to my destination's time zone. So all my meetings now appear to be in the right spot. My 7:30AM meeting in Scotland (which is what it looks like NOW in Outlook) appears as 12:30. The right time.
Then I go into calendar and change the flights.
It works for me.

I had put up a similar questions a few weeks back. I had a Palm phone at Sprint, which updated to local time as soon as I turned it on at the new location. Problem was, my appoinment were in EST and the phone clock was now CST or PST. which was a royal PITA. I would change the system clock on the PC then sync inthe new time zone and everything worked fine. Repeat process back to old time zone. When I realized that the BB and Cingular do not reset time I was a bit anoyed. However, since the BB does not change time, my appointment reminders are OK, which was the main issue.

Has anyone tried OS 4.1 and the upgrades in the date/time section. Appears to give you the flexibility to show how you want the time to appear on your bb (home vs local). I recently upgraded and did a 'test run', setting to blackberry time and changing the time zone. The appts in calendar stayed the same, just showing the new time zone I updated to.
A nice update to have, if I'm using it correct. Will test again next when I'm traveling.
