You really shouldnt have bid on one if they were charging that much for shipping when it would cost less than 5 and a few extra with insurance. I've sold a xbox on ebay w/20 games and wasnt even close to 50 for shipping w/insurance.
I pass on items that gouge for shipping and the ony way that will change is if no one buys their items. As long as you are willing to pay the 50 than there will continue to be sellers charging 50......

I can't stand ebayers that continue this practice. What they do is advertise there price well below the others to get the consumer to think they are getting a better deal then they pop you with the hefty shipping fee. Most people using ebay now know to look for the hefty shipping charges but this is just an unethical and deceptive practice. I would stay clear of this guy.
By lowering the selling price of the unit and boosting the delivery charge, the seller pays eBay a smaller commission; the commission is based solely on the selling price.
In many cases, the combined price still represents reasonable value.
Still, in this case the $300 was reasonable to begin with (specially if used) and the $50.00 was definitely unreasonable. I bought my first BB from e-bay and had it shipped from California overnight and insured for full value and it was still only $25.00 for the whole transaction.
I got mine for $369. I had a friend buy it for me since I don't have pay-pal and he does. I'm not sure how much the unit and shipping were seperately, but my final charge was $369. Much cheaper than buying it directly from Cingular.
I don't care how much shipping is just as long as it works out to be the same price. When I sell stuff i add some to take care of my paypal fees and listing fees, not $50.
