I have recently installed the version of Bolt. It's SO much better than my Bold's crappy BB Browser. My problem is no applications send links and such to Bolt? How can I change the systems default web browser so works with other Apps?

WoW.. very dissapointing. It's shocking that BB has such a horrible browser. The bold is the best communications device I've ever had, but the browser is pure garbage coated in molasses.

I just watched a video of the Onyx running 5.0.0.111 and in it he shows the browser. That thing is as painful as the current non 5x version. I just don't get why it's so hard for BB to make a browser that doesn't make you scream (#*&$#

Obviously that browser is going to be slow, the phone is running on edge. If it was on 3g or wifi it would be much faster.

i loved my browser on my 8330 and now i love it on my 9630 works verry snappy for me. mabe its your provider that has the lasck in internet speed you want.

No.. If I use the bolt browser pages comes up at least 5 times faster.

It's no secret that the third party browsers are faster, but don't forget RIM is not only developing a browser, but the entire OS ....... unlike the developer of Bolt <- it too still has its' own issues.

The argument that they can't make a good browser because they also are developing an OS is a copout and only works for small, disorganized companies.

There is a separate team developing the browser vs the OS usually, not one group of developers trying to do it all at the same time. There is most likely several of them making parts of the OS. One team for the back end, another for UI, another working on apps, ext ...

Thats great that RIM can't make a good browser but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able set a different program as the default Browser.

I don't see what's wrong with the BB browser, the Bolt browser had about the same speeds for me if not slower, plus it was very clunky with the cursor seeming to bounce around on a grid and snap to links rather than move around smoothly. Plus with the BB browser always running it's kind of pointless to have another browser running, using up more memory (altho the "always on" of the BB browser is another issue in itself).

It's good the BB browser works well for you. For many of us, the BB browser is unbearably slow and drains the battery just trying endlessly to load a few pages. Opera Mini works well for me so I use it.

Compared to my old 8310 curve, I love the Browser with the Bold. Of course it could be better, I am keeping my fingers crossed for OS 5.0!

I have the Bolt browser loaded up, but I do not find it any faster, and may in fact be slower than the default Blackberry browser in my experience. Bolt will, however, render some pages properly, like the government of Canada radar weather pages, where the default browser will only render it if I go to Column View. Bolt, however will not render the radar in motion (may be a memory issue), while the default Blackberry browser will show the radar in motion (all be it, without all the overlays of roads etc.).
I also prefer the default browser curser which will let me zoom in with a touch of the track ball. I don't get that with Bolt.

The Blackberry default browser remains my browser of choice.
