Does anyone know if Bell has plans to support UMA?

No, Rogers already has it. Bell has no plans to offer UMA support.

Bell is a stronger and more robust network in Canada, but the absence of UMA is a setback. It is not however enough for me to switch to Rogers and my plan gives me 2000 daytime minutes with unlimited incoming and unlimited everything else with 6GB of BES data, all for $45/mth. In other words, I can live without UMA.

Maybe Bell is stronger in Ontario and Quebec, but not in the west. I think Telus and Rogers are more dominant out here. It would be interesting to compare maps showing towers and coverage.

Here is a link that shows Canadian cell towers. I think Bell has lost its edge in Ontario, particularly in urban areas. Remember that Bell has an arrangement with Tellus to share cell towers so Bell in reality is not a bad as it might look otherwise out west.

Bellus share towers all over, don't they?

Thanks for the link. It's very interesting to see the tower locations of all the service providers on one map. If you combine Bell and Telus, there are more towers than Rogers, but Bell definitely has fewer towers in metro vancouver than Telus.

Guys, Bell/Telus share their networks...all towers. They are by far, stronger than Rogers across the country. The End.

Not so fast. If the map of canadian cell towers is accurate, in the part of metro vancouver where I live, bell and telus are sharing most of their towers, but not all of them, and rogers has a decent number of towers of their own. (Obviously this one area isn't indicative of everywhere.)

Bell Towers

Telus Towers

Rogers Towers

I can only tell you that in eastern Canada, Bell/ Telus blows Rogers away. I have both in our enterprise. Seems the same in the west by the maps I see above as well. Rogers pales by comparison. If you look at the maps, Bell/ Telus combined outweigh Rogers by a large margin. Since all Bell/ Telus towers are shared by both...they win! Not sure where you heard that not all of the towers are shared. Here, even Rogers and Bell/ Telus are shared to some extent as well.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I always thought bellus shared towers, but when I looked at the map of the area where I live, I noticed that some towers were clearly shared by both, but some weren't. I was surprised by that. Who knows, maybe the map isn't accurate. I've been on rogers, telus and bell, I haven't seen much difference in coverage, but I liked the customer support from telus over the others.
