Basically, on your main bbm contact screen there is something called 'recent updates'. if someone on your contact list is listening to music on their bb, and they have the 'show what i'm listening to' feature turned on, then it will show up on your recent updates. example: if you have a contact called XYZ and they are listening to lets say, Green Day - Hitchin a Ride, then on your recent updates it shows as... 'XYZ is listening to Green Day - Hitchin a Ride' and when the song changes, it will update again. it's pretty annoying because i don't want to keep seeing what everyone on my contact list is listening to!

Sure. If you are in the conversation, then there is a message like "is typing a message" under the name at the top of the screen. Or, if you are at the main screen of BBM with the list of contacts, that message will appear under the name of the contact that is typing a message.

There is an icon that displays as well when they are writing back to you. It is an "A" in a box.

that is 5.0.0.8. in 5.0.0.33, it comes under the contacts name 'is writing a message' or on the main contact screen there is 'is writing a message' the "A" in the box isn't there as far as i remember.

Correct. The A in the box is no longer used, it's been replaced by "is writing a message".

Also, concerning the status, you'll only see a status for a contact if the person is busy or unreachable. If there is no status for a contact, it means they're available. An indicator will only show up if they're busy or unreachable or on the phone (I believe, even though that option isn't available to select anymore).

Mmm.. let me know if anyone else still have the unusual glitch where out of nowhere your text won't appear but it's still typing and you can still send to that user..

Only way i know to fix that is to end chat and start a new one, which is poo

I cant find the proximity request alert, which was present in the Beta version.
Has this moved somewher else ?
I tried to send a proximity request from a Beta BBM to one device (BB 9000) running the release, and got the answer back the device does not support proximity requests.

any idea ?

Thanks.

This is one of the most pointless features in this app. Why would anyone care what someone else is listening to? Pretty much as pointless as blogs and Twitter....

is there any way to hide the pictures so that we can get back to the list of contacts instead of scrolling down endlessly?

Default New Bbm 5.00

I installed it, but now the complete BB messenger icon on my javelin is gone.

What to do now?

I lost all my contact just like that?

Default Deleted all my BBM contacts!

Agh! T-Mobile 8820 with 4.5.0.110. Attempted to download/install BBM 5 and it error'd out during install (after taking f'ing forever).

Battery-out reset the phone and when it came back BBM was completely uninstalled! No old version, no new version.

Went back to AppWorld and downloaded/installed successfully but now ALL of my contacts are gone!

What the hell RIM, what the hell.

Anyone know how to scrape BBM PINs out of an old backup file?

I downloaded 5.0 yesterday. i love it, all the other people in my bbm did as well. its ,much better than the beta (thank god, i lost all my pin #'s, ) so i love it, it automatically synced with my facebook. and being able to backup all your contacts on a memory card is amazing!!!! Blackberry has impressed me again! oh and i love the bar code thing, it works great.

I just upgraded from *.8. So far the only problem is that I've had instances where it would say that messages I sent were received, when in fact it hasn't. Hopefully a battery pull will help.
