Question BESX and Muliple Exchange Server Env.

Please Login to Remove!

Dear all,

My boss is excited about the new BESX 5.0 and want me to consider it as the replacement for BES 4.1 we are running now. Our actual BES server with its 50+ and no MDS service users has really not too much to do. It looks like the capacity is not an issue, but one consideration still bothers me. I was not able any direct answer to the question - is it possible to run BESX in a multiple Exchange server environment. I know Exchange 2000 is not supported and these are the first servers we are going to get rid of, still having a mix of exchange 2007/2010 servers.
BES 4.1 has no problems running with all that mess, but what about BESX?
Can please someone tell me or show me where to get info from?

Thank you very much in advance

BES Express will support multi Exchange servers.

Depending on the database type BES will only get a certain amount of Agents.
2 agents on MSDE
5 agents on SQL

RIM docs say it supports 2003 and 2007 mixed mode, but I have yet to find any information on 2010 mixed environment. We are on exchange 2003 with bes 5.0 and will be migrating our users to exchange 2010 here soon, but the process will be over a couple months for testing purpose. Best I can come up with is to use BESX during our migration and once we have all the 2003 users phased out just reactivate users back onto the full BES. Talking 400 exchange users but only 70 of them are BB.

EDIT: I have been emailing RIM support back and forth and they tell me:
In answer to your question, The BlackBerry Enterprise server version 5.0.1 MR1 will support both Exchange 2003 and 2010 as long as the MAPI subsystem installed is for Exchange 2010.

hahaha. I know but RIM support sent it to me telling me this is what I need in order for it to work. I still have yet to find anything on RIM site exactly saying that it works though.
