OK... to halt the confusion... "BES 4.1" doesn't exist as a complete product. BES 4.1 is used as a term to incorporate BES 4.0 with MDS 4.1. I have been part of the MDS Studio 4.1 beta program, which did include an additional install to upgrade BES 4.0 for MDS Studio support.

Unfortunately I can't provide much more than that due to the NDA I signed, which they still haven't returned to me, even though the Beta period ended on Monday.

corey signed an NDA. heh. so no word on the BES 4.1, as a product upgrade, beta? it would just seem to me that, with the webcast and CWTE seminars, they'd have it atleast in beta stages by now.

There is a BES 4.1 Beta currently running. It is independent of the MDS 4.1 beta test. It is primarily focused on testing the new 4.1 manager with role-based permissions and group administration. Phase 1 started about 2 months ago and phase 2 started just this week.

As Mike mentioned, BES 4.1 is a complete product independent of the MDS Studio.

for now, i'm curious on the role-based administration and how it is handled. i'm not sure how much can be discussed within the boundaries of any NDAs that were signed.

As proof of the separate product. The agenda for the Connect with the Experts series shows:

Preview the new key features and benefits that BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 will provide. These enhancements include actions to improve BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration, additional security options and updates to BlackBerry devices. oh yeah, for any RIM employees that happen to be watching (well, reading) this thread, if you can get me in on the official beta testing, i'd be very happy (and a good beta tester).
