Verizon just sent out the latest OS update for anyone who's interested for the 9550. I'm installing now so get it if you want an official release and not a leaked one.

Anyone see any noticeable difference between "leaked" and "Official" .607 version?

There will be no noticeable difference as it is exactly the same. .607 is .607 whether you downloaded it leaked or if it was an official release.

Sadly as a Mac user I must wait for OFFICIAL releases. What are the major changes in this release? Anyone know?

Thanks,

So from my leaked version experiences: better browser speed; slightly spacing increasing between keys in landscape mode; new version of Blackberry Messager (only if you use it); new startup screen (3-D color hour glass during boot instead of 2-D clock face). Nothing else in particular..... So far, works well and stable, all third party's apps working fine.

Just did a OTL (you don't need a computer to upgrade with the S2) and so far:

Everything is "snappier" including keyboard response and touch screen response.

Everything appear to be working except the AP News app. I had to restart most of the loaded apps such as Poynt, Thomson Reuters News etc. I did not have to restart Time or Weather Channel app so it would be interesting to see why.

I noticed that the download section of App World no longer had the 4 apps I downloaded from them.

Further comments (after about 15 minutes of use):

Phone is clearer.

Keyboard works better, not sure if different base settings or software improvement.

Overall it is definiately snappier.

As stated above AP News app is the only thing that does not work.

About 35% of the battery was used for the OTL.

Further update:

Only app that did not like the new OS was AP News app. I deleted and re-down loaded and still had issues. I went into permissives and played around cycling things and it started working.

Keyboard has a real improvement and I can type a lot faster.

Touchscreen is, well you no longer realize what you are doing and just do it.

I have not been able to get the bluetooth to connect to my Ford Synch system but that may be me. I did a battery pull and will try tomorrow morning. I normally do a battery pull when the bluetooth to Synch stops working right.

I cannot tell if the battery life is better, worst or same at this point as I have been using the phone with display on far more than normal after the OS upgrade.

So far no killer problems.

I hope moderators don't take this as double post, but this is almost a double thread so, basically quoting myself I have already founded some bugs and annoyances of this OS:

- I have installed this OS and while everything seems alright, Shazam app does not work... it shows the "view agreement / setup" screen and when I click on setup it changes screen and shuts down...

Anyone else having this problem? I have done battery pull and re-installed Shazam without success

- Alsoooo... When I'm listening to music and using the calculator it used to stop the music if I hit DEL a few times (because it makes another sound) anyway in this OS that action will freeze the phone and it totally sucks...

Though picture viewer seems to be faster, but zooming still sucks...

-When selecting long text (i tried in memos) if you drag up or down one of the holders in either side and release, then the screen will also swipe as if you were scrolling, very annoying... (same happens while draging the cursor.

- Another bug that still persist is when editing a playlist, if you try to move a song, you will only be able to move it up or down until it hits the end of the screen, instead of scroling through the other songs and allowing to place it upper or lower on the list.

- And lastly the "Show Songs" screen (in the Now Playing screen hit menu) which I find very very useful, still is very very choppy and laggy when trying to scroll....

PS: I wish they would allow video to be played from either side of landscape... I am left handed and its easier for me to hold in landscape with my left hand and be able to operate buttons with my thumb in that position.. and also charging cable gets in the way if you want to prop it up while playing video

Another bug related to latest OS.

Now every time I input some text in a web page using Opera the keyboard area won't disappear until I rotate the device. Very annoying

I downgraded back to .517
I was not happy with .607 because:
~These key (for me) apps stopped working or caused reboots: Scanner Radio, Life in Pocket, Drivesafe.ly, and Where.
~BBM groups/keyboard issue. Yes, there is a workaround by frankly... why?
~SMS messages were received by the device but didn't appear in the message list. Audible an visual notification that txt was received but then screen would freeze, and there would be a blank space in the message list. Had to select the blank space and then hit return to see the message but it was deleted/missing. (!) (?)

Now.. back on .517... all is good. EVERYTHING works without a hitch.

YMMV but my experience with .607 was cruddy.

Default os 5.0.0.607 from verizon

Downloaded on Friday all seems good, browser definitely quicker. Only app not working is Bing, keyboard doesn't show on screen although it is there if you touch screen. Not sure why, otherwise improved. Battery life still not sure since I've been using pretty heavily although doesn't seem to be far from past performance.

Anyone with ideas on Bing, let me know. Did delete and reload same issue.

Last week after I upgraded the OS and got everything working I got a notice that a "new" version of Bing was ready for download. This solved the problems I was having with Bing.
