Default Google Calendar vs. ICalendar syncing with your blackberry. What do You Prefer?

Please Login to Remove!

I am thinking about getting the Blackberry 8300 soon and would like to know what calendar application seems to work the best with the blackberry. I am a huge calendar person for work and personal. Although, I dont have a mac, a lot of people I talk to say the ical is the best calendar out there. I do love the Google Calendar though. The only problem to me is, you have to connect to the google calendar through the blackberry while the ICAL you dont. Would it be a hassle to connect to the GCAL everyday or could I keep it constantly connected so I can always check my calendar. What do you guys have the best luck with? Thanks

Ben

P.S... I saw something here in a previous thread about a google calendar that can be downloaded??? I could be wrong. Are there 2 versions of the google calendar for the blackberry?

Outlook is by far the best since it is the most prevalent in the business world and also among consumers. Since you didn't mention it, I assume that is not in the mix?

sadelb, check the aftermarket software section. There is a program, xxxxxxxxxxxxx I believe is the name, that gets a lot of positive comments. It runs on the blackberry and will sync you're calendar over the air with google calendar. I don't use it, or google calendar, so I can't tell you my experience.

I am open to all suggestions. I know that google really works hard with blackberry and I do like google products. I have also seen the ical and it looks great as well. I just want a calendar that works and syncs very well with not many problems. I would also like to have a business and personal contact list as well. I believe outlook has the contact list function associated with the calendar. Not sure if google calendar or ical has this though.

Time and Chaos is the best calendar/contact list program I have ever found. You sync with Companionlink for Time and Chaos. Works perfect on my 8830

never heard of Time and Chaose - provide us a link please

as for the business/personal contact list. Google Calendar has different calendars you can create but not contact lists, for that they have Gmail (but only one contact list there). iCal also has different calendars (work and personal) but it also does not keep the contacts, Mac uses Address Book for those (although they can work together).

Default bes and google calendar or something else

could I use both calendars? Use Outlook at the office for business then use Google calendar to manage my kids schedules with their mom. Would love for both to work if possible.

Let me know.

I've used time and chaos before and it's the best! I haven't tried it with the blackberry, but if it works with the blackberry (and the user aboves states that it does), I would check it out.

You can only have one calendar and one contact list on the BB. Everything would be merged into one.

Latest Time and Chaos version is called Chaos Intellect. I don't use the email module but use everything else. Link is Chaos Software contact management time manager email client.

wow, Time and Chaos 7 looks very impressive. I have never heard of these products and they have been around since 1992. I will definitely not use their email client though. I wonder if there is a way I can use gmail with their program somehow. I doubt it though. may give this calendar a try along with google calendar and see what I like better. I do like that this has its own address book. Google has never developed an address book / contact list. The contact list on gmail doesnt really count in my opinion.

So I have been using my trial of Time and Chaos and I still think I like the google calendar better. I do love how time and chaos puts the contact list inside the calendar as well. wish google calendar had that feature.
