Default Assign new emailid to existing BES account

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

i am BB server admin. i want to know that one user is having one email account that is in exchange server 2003 and added in BES. he is receiving emails in outlook and bb device both, he wants to assign one or two emailid's to bb device to receive some server alerts that came directly to bb device not in outlook, because these server alerts are more approx 1000-2000 per hour so dont come in mailbox to save space on exchange server. Is any way to assign new email id's to bb device so that these server alerts can come directly to new emailid of bb device not in mailbox.

Can we create contact id's in our domain not mailbox for this new emailid's for server alerts or anything else.

you can:
add more email adresses to a Mailbox, and, the Blackberry will receive the mails also. However this will be the users mailbox.

add a BIS based account to the blackberry device if you wireless provider has the BB provisioned for BES and BIS. The mailbox then can be located somewhere reachable via pop3 or outlook webaccess.

I dont know if 2000 messages per hour is really somthing someone is able to deal with, because this is about 1 message per second. Since the mails must be stored in some mailbox, it does not make a big difference if it ist stored in the users mailbox or not.

I would add the emailadresses to the users mailbox which already receives email, and, using a server based rule move them to a prededefined folder. The user then can himself choose to have the folder redirected or not temporarily.
Also you could add a filter to the blackberry to forward only those messages which really mean something important and skip others. Or flag high priority messages with a level 1 notification.

Then add an outlook archive rule to move all messages older then XX days out of the mailbox in an archive PST file. As soon as the users logs in again in office, old mail will be removed, and your mailbox will not overflow.

Thanks for reply,

i have some confusions. Please clear.

1. User wants a dedicate email id for some server specific alerts, so that user can receive those email alerts on that emailid in BB device.

Suppose a user has [email address] in registered in exchange and BES server, now he wants a new emailid as [email address] to register only in BES not in exchange server so that server related alerts can come only on BB device not in mailbox.

2. Can we create contact emailid (not mailbox) in our exchange server as [email address] and how this contact emailid will be linked in BES server or bd device

madanmadanacs, as nobody7290 said... if you create [email address] then add it to the Blackberry as BIS account you can achieve this. However, your exchange setup will either need to allow POP/IMAP access outside of the corporate domain or OWA.

and: the BES server itself is not able to buffer or store emails. It always needs an email system as a kind of backend it gets the mail from and only forwards it to the Handheld. You need a mailbox somewhere.

Thanks for great reply,

1. It means we have to create a new mailbox in our exchange envoironment for these alerts for store emails, then

2. Can that new exchange mailbox be associated with single BB device, by that exisisting user emailid already assocaited.

3. How setting will be done in BB server.

While it is theoretically possible to use more then one BES with one Handheld, this AFAIK does work when when the account is in the same organisation.

you have to use a BIS account or user the users mailbox.
