My bold 9900 display seems to be flickering like an old interlaced monitor. Anyone facing this?

I suggest you return it to the point of sale asap.

I had a similar encounter here in the Philippines just today Aug 30 2011. That's why while testing one of them i bought something else instead. I thought it was my eyes. Must be a hardware or software issue under the OS 7.0 software platform the engineers at blackberry overlooked. i suggest sending it back to your supplier.

I had the same problem with also a battery drain issue... tried two betteries and and both would drain down to dead with in 6-8 hours while in the standby mode.

Got it replaced yesterday and the new 9900 is so far great.. from a full charge, in approx 5h of stand by time, I am down to 95%

the problem is, it is intermittent......the supplier is not going to do anything except send it for service.....i also thought it was my eyes or the surroundings i was in.....i have seen the flickering on a few devices..so i am pretty sure i am not the only one with the problem..maybe people just dont notice it.

I would fight for a replacement.. not sure when you bought your from the carrier but Bell Canada has a 30D replacement policy on defective units

Today I just got the replacement to my defective Bold9900. I was using BOLD 9000 before this. Bluetooth was great but my first 9900 was not the same. In the car, the bluetooth went in and out. At the same time, the screen would freeze. For almost 2 weeks Rogers Store kept saying they were out of stock. Rogers customer service wasn't helpful at all, it's out of their hands they said. I dished $620 for a new one outright. I'm crossing my fingers that this new unit I have is problem free. If not, I am convinced that RIM will be heading to where Nortel is.

My phone screen started to flicker this morning. I googled it and read somewhere that it is related (as bizarre as it is) to the media card, realized that I inserted mine in this morning after a week of "non-flickery" use, removed it, and the flicker went away. I then tried it again, the flicker came back and went away as I inserted and removed the media card!

I hope this helps, it did solve my problem, and as there is 8 GB onboard memory I actuall do not need a memory card so I am again happy.

Regards,

Ercan

Just got my 9900 and it has the interlace (refresh rate) flicker going on when it switches to full brightness. In my car the audio streaming also likes to cut for no reason. My previous 9700 worked flawless with audio streaming. Must be defective phone, will be exchanging for a new one tommorow, will let you know.
