Default Upgrade setup 4.1 fails immediately

Please Login to Remove!

Hi!

We have weird problem trying to upgrade BlackBerry Ent server from 3.5.4 to 4.1. Whenever we click on setup.exe to start installation, the hour glass appears for less than a second and then turns back to normal cursor. And that is it! No installation, no errors, no active processes, no entries in any logs.

We tried version 4.0 and result was the same.

We are running Windows 2003 server SP1 standard. BB works with Exchange 2003 located on different server.

Any help will be greatly, gtreatly appreciated.

Thank you

Yuri

Default Multiple IP addresses ?

Had similar symptoms (setup.exe briefly coming up and then going away again). In my situation the machine had multiple IP addresses assigned, and I was able to get setup to work by temporarily removing the extra IP addresses.

G'luck!

How are you accessing the server? are you at the console or remote, if you are remote what are you using to access the server?

We had to upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6 then to 4.0. It depends on whether you got the full version on the software, or just the upgrade.

It depends what it says in the upgrade guide you may need to Service pack it before you can upgrade. But it won't give you this message.

All versions of base installers are both Full and an upgrade. There is no difference.

Default I only have 1 IP address

We have two NIC's in the server, one is disabled, another one has only one IP address.

I access the server directly, but in remote mode setup behaves exactly the same, i.e. no setup.

Still open to suggestions

What is the name of the file you are running, does a setupxxxxxxxxxxx.log get created in Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\Installer\

If so paste it here.
