Default Notification Area Does Not Refresh

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Bold 9900 and after upgrading to BB 7.1 my notification area does not refresh if it is open.

If my terminology is incorrect, this is what the old behavior was:
If I pressed the notification area right under the time, the notification screen would open and whatever notifications would be listed.

If I opened a text notification, it would take me to the text message, hitting back would bring me back to the notification screen and the message about the text message would be cleared.

Now, if I do the same thing, going back returns me to an identical notification screen, with the text message still there. I can still open it up, and it still displays the old subject text.

Why isn't it refreshing?

A second example: If I have 5 emails listed, and I open all 5 and press back, they will not clear from the notification area until I close and reopen the notifications.

This has been going on for several months, through battery pulls and everything else.

That release came out a month ago, and the only way to install it is manually?
No blackberry desktop?

Well, thanks for the suggestion, but updating it using the method described doesn't appeal to me at the moment. If they ever decide to actually "release" that release I'll give it another go.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The method suggested is the preferred and correct method. Please consider it.

Loader.exe has always been a better, more effective solution to use.

The recommended update method has something to do with "SmarTone HK"?

I'll try it, but you have to admit this is a bit convoluted for an update that is a month old.

This method allows you to install a version released by another carrier onto your BB. It works fine.

It is very easy and straightforward as long as you follow the instructions. Feel free to wait for another Telus update, which may take weeks or months.

Well, I followed the method exactly, and the loader app doesn't seem to do anything.

Running it without using the "Advanced" option does nothing, at all.
With advanced it backs up, and re-downloads my data, that's it. No update.

Vendor.xml was deleted, but there weren't any compatibility files to delete.
I notice that after running the installer the only files created in 2012 in that folder is the Vendor.xml file. Am I missing something here?

Did you follow the instructions to the letter. Are you sure you downloaded and installed the almost 300mb update file? And did a search for VENDOR.XML on the C: drive?

There is probably a vendor.xml file hiding somewhere.

Try this:
Go to Start > Run and type cmd <press enter>
Type cd c:\ <press enter>
Type del /s vendor.xml <press enter>

Then run apploader.exe

Ok, there was a vendor.xml hiding: %APPDATA%\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML\Vendor.xml

It wasn't recognized as a compatibility file, so I never had the option to view it.

Now it is ready to do the actual update. The guide doesn't mention anything about wireless activation and the Loader claims that I will have to re-activate my phone to continue using it. What is involved in that process? Does Telus have to be involved?

No Telus does not have to be involved.
Wireless activations is for BES users only.

Ok, so technically it didn't really fix the problem. Only made it go away temporarily.
