Default Could not start MDS Connection Service (fixed)

I had the same problem but a completely different fix.

Based on the previous discussions I looked into my config files in the MDS\Servers\Servername folder and found that there were tons of references to JRE_5_0_09. At that time the light bulb went on. After installing the recent Java Update 11, I decided to do some clean up on the other older JRE installations (specifically Update 9). At first I tried editing all the files in the CONFIG fold and changing the references from the Update 9 folder to Update 10. After a bunch of changes, still no joy. I finally resolved the problem by simply reinstalling the Java JRE 5 Update 9.

My problem was different than others but I thought I'd share our solution anyways.

Thumbs up Solution!

It was the Java update that caused this problem for me. I edited the registry following the instructions in here to point to the updated JRE and it ran perfectly:

For me, it was actually reinstallation of the Jre 5 Update 9..

When I installed the 1.4.2_03 it did absolutely nothing... I couldn't remember what version I had because Bloomberg had me removed all previous versions of Java for their program... Needless to say I was not happy
