Well, I have gone and done it - bought the new IPhone 4S. A loyal BB fan boy for over 8 years, I loved my BBs and promoted them to all in my business despite the clamoring for an IPhone. I still like the BB even with my current Bold giving me a plethora of problems the past 8 months or so. The new IPhone is simply amazing and it remindes me of my wonderment the first time I switched from a simple flip phone to my first "smart phone" - a BB! The "Siri" artificial intelligence can blow your mind. Once I got over giving stupid demonstrations to friends to get a laugh I am blown away by its business applications. I have to think of the phone in a whole different way to make full use of it. I never have had a phone, computer or any instrument that I could actually do more than just give it an instruction, but to genuinely ask a question and receive an intelligent verbal response. This is going to take some time to learn all it can do.

I loved my Palm Pilot and that's gone
I loved my giant car phone with the control that took up half the trunk and that's gone
I loved my Rzr and that's gone
I loved my SLR film camera and that's gone
I loved my VCR and that's gone.
I loved my BlackBerry and that's gone
I now love my IPhone and someday that will be gone
If Siri is what 2011 is like, I cannot imagine what we will have in 2021.

Good luck to RIM, I hope that they learn to innovate again.

We'll leave the light on for you.

I had an iPhone 3GS for about a year. Just couldn't make it work how I wanted it to work.

I'm with BBRaffey. The winds at my company are blowing toward iOS, and I switched my phone line for the first time since 2004 from a BlackBerry to an iPhone 4S.

I had the 7750, 7250, 7100g, 7130, 8700, a Tour for about two years, then finally a Bold 9930 "Touch".

I remember those magical early days when users would look past the clunky size and poor phone that the 7750 was to have that E-MAIL constantly! I believe RIM innovated beyond the competition up to the 8700 World Edition of 2007.

I went to a Verizon breakfast for the Storm debut in late '08 and knew then RIM was adrift. That thing was in beta when released and they were charging for it! (Reminded me of Vista!) While the Tour and Bolds that followed were solid devices, they weren't innovative. I evaluated the Storm 2, but never carried one.

I thought the Torch was a goofy form factor, and with the onset of OS6, the menus -- in an attempt to be more helpful -- became more confusing and less familiar. Plus, the web browser still sucked.

With the 9930 and OS7, they allowed the user to tame down the damn main screen panels, and the browser was improved, but it's the device they needed three years ago, not in 2011.

I'll continue to support my 800 users of course, but I'll be carrying a BlackBerry as a secondary "is the server up" device, not as my primary tool. Like the OP, Siri itself is a lot to get used to, and the incredible functionality of the 4S, along with iCloud, WiFi sync, etc. makes it so much more functional and enjoyable than my BlackBerry. I want to play with it to see everything it can do, not just check e-mail with it.

As always, to each their own... I happen to think that the (original) Torch, with its large touchscreen AND a real keyboard is the BEST form factor! Haven't decided if I'll move from the 9800 to the 9810 with higher resolution, faster CPU and OS7 (with a dramatically improved browser) or wait for BBX, but love the basic 9800 form factor. Long live the REAL keyboard!

When the OS doesn't change, people complain that it is outdated.
When the OS changes (including the menu structure) people complain because it is less familiar.

Can't win.

Yep! Same thing with form factors. The tried & true are "outdated" but the new ones are "goofy."
