Question Got a brand new bb pearl.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, I just got an 8100 and got a few questions.
1. Will I be charged with using bbm ( i dont have a data plan just unlimited text)?
2. Before i got my bb i had a samsung behold and IM and Email were free because i had unlimited text, will they still be free?
3. Will i be charged for using the browser even though i used a proxy server ( for those who know what it is) for my behold's browser and never got charged a cent.
4. I downloaded BB Desktop Manager but it wont detect my device, i just get this small-windowed pop up message "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer", but it is!!!!!!!!! what should i do? Also it wont let me click anything behind that little pop up message so i cant change the options.

Wirelessly posted

1. If you use it, yes. 2. No
3. Yes, even using a proxy.
Basically anything except phone and SMS you will need some type of data plan.
4. Try putting the BB in mass storage mode. Being that old of a phone you might need specific usb drivers.

1. Without a blackberry data plan, you cannot use BBM.
2. You need a blackbery data plan to get push email, and use most (if not all) the IM apps available.

Wow, that really sucks. I was kind of expecting more from this phone without a data plan, but thanks you guys.

It's well known how limited a blackberry is without a data plan. There are many many threads here and around the internet.

Nobody searches however
