Default Anyone using a screen protector?

Please Login to Remove!

I've the storm for about a week now. Really isn't scratched up yet but I was wondering if anyone has used those scratch resistant screens for the phone like the ad featured to the left for the invisible shield.

Do these restrict typing at all? Do they seem to work okay? Worth a purchase? Also, I'm not going to get a carrying case for the thing. I don't need to wear it on my belt with pride so don't suggest those please.

I'm not using a screen protector on my storm. I have an ipod touch and I use a screen protector only because I bought a few different cases and they all came with them. About all it does is change the friction between my finger and the screen. Everybody I show my storm to tells me to get a case and a screen protector, I tell them the screen is glass and doesn't need one. A piece of plastic less than 1mm thick is not going to stop the glass from cracking if you sit on it or crush it. I am going to order an OEM leather holster this week when it becomes available.

They do not restrict typing. If anything they may make it better as they reduce any sort of slippage.

I bought the screen protector at the Verizon store (yeah, I know I got robbed at $10 bucks for 3 sheets), but my rational was based on the 30 day return policy and having it in perfect returnable condition if I didn't like it, and I thought it was cheap, on the spot insurance against damage from "new user frustrated abuse", (that would be me ).
The first one came off by the end of the day. Peeled off like a bad onion.
Second time, I thoroughly cleaned the lens and fingertips with alcohol to clear any dirt and oils. Carefully lined it up and laid it in place like a surgeon. It's been on for a whole week with excessive use/familiarization over the Turkey Day weekend and it's been fine.
I'm certain they wouldn't sell it if they thought it would denigrate the user-ability of the phone.
That's my two and a half cents, hope it helps.

I ordered a Zagg InvisibleShield, will be the first I've used, but I've only heard good things about them.

Currently using the screen protector that comes in the Invisible Shield package. It does cause a little drag across the screen. As soon as Javoedge releases their Storm screen protector I will be getting one of those.

I will leave the rest of the I.S. on the device.

I have the Invis-shield covering my entire Storm. It's great! No worries - I think it has NOT affected the typing at all. Plus, its kind of sticky, which helps you hold it. I will add a silicon cover, for added protection. Believe me - it's worth it!

I just left the factory screen protector on it and it seems to be working great and didn't cost me an extra cent.

I didn't put a screen protector on to ward off breakage. Just scratches and such. Also the Curve leather case works fine with the storm. I was going to buy one until I slid the storm into the Curve case and it fit perfect.

I didn't notice any difference in the screen except its easier to clean. Don't have to worry about scratching the screen while you clean it. Just my 2 cents. Thank you please drive thru.

definitely go with the zagg shield, you can get it at a best buy store or order the entire shield for your phone from the website.

I got the pack of 3 screen protectors from verizon and it seems to work well... just make sure you clean the screen and carefully install it so there aren't any air bubbles or dust under it... didn't notice any difference in screen sensitivity and it keeps it from scratching with my rough fingers.

i use the screen patronus screen protectors. i have used the invisible shield by zagg and it worked well on my curve but eventually switched over to the screen patronus for it's clarity. does not affect typing or impede use of the phone in any way.

Thumbs up

Wouldn't walk out the Verizon store without one! Why would you risk scratching such a beautiful display?
